Never played a MMORPG before, should i?

i love videogames and i've played almost everything from the arcades trough the c64, amiga, pc, psx, ps2, gba, psp, etc. etc. but i never understood what's the deal about online games, of course i tried a little bit of counter strike or unreal online, but it didn't grab my attention and i always got bored of being sniped 30 seconds into the game,

what's so good about games like world of warcraft? :helpme

i can do that from time to time without online games easily :1orglaugh

i mean i can't stand single player menu driven rpgs, is there much of a difference with online rpgs?

don't start. They're bad because essentially they have no end but you're always progressing. It' not like CS where it's a bunch of ten minute games you get bored of.. it's never ending game that is a constant race against thousands of others.. if you don't play you fall behind and waste all the effort you've put in so far... it's an ever escalating problem until you realise work and personal life are suffering and you're bored of powerlevelling.

single player = play whenever and everything waits for you to come back and get on with it.

MMORPG = play everyday or fall behind. Also like any multiplayer.. playing against real people is incomparable. NPC's don't hit you up on ICQ to taunt you or give you special items.
