Using multiple price points on join pages

We have 4 monthly pricepoints on every join page

$24.95 - "Best of Lightspeed" = The 2 most recent updates and 2 top ranked sets from each site, updated daily
$29.95 - "Best of Lightspeed" + Full access to any 1 site per month
$34.95 - "Best of Lightspeed" + Full access to any 5 sites per month
$39.95 - "Best of Lightspeed" + Full access to any 10 sites per month

Got this idea at Wendy's, I always buy "Biggie-Sized"

Inside our member's areas, the member can always upgrade to any of the higher-level memberships.

It has helped all our solo site's conversions; we can sell each as a solo site, a larger "5 favorite girls" site, or as a megasite.

We have better conversions this way, but we lost the multiple joins we used to get from one member that liked multiple girls.

Anyone else experiment with the biggie size idea?

Should we add a 3 month option maybe, 10 sites per month at like $99?

I'm bored, I'll bet a business thread on Saturday evening will really liven up the party. :thumbsup

crockett 08-20-2005 05:28 PM

sounds good to me, anything that causes higher payouts :winkwink:

Since it is a boring day afterall.
Could you care to explain how such site signups can be done prefferably with a ccbill account?

I would be highly interested in trying this out. Just never really looked into it before. I do understand the bases of a cross sell though.

We are primary with CCBill, but we wrote custom code into our Lightspeed4 system to manage a member's passwords for multiple sites under one join .

Wouldn't it be cool if CCBill developed a way for their sponsors to offer multi-site bundles into their standard system? Its not really a cross-sell, since there is only one transaction.

Yes it would be very cool. Damn custom eh? Well that sucks for me for the time being. :Oh crap

Doc911 08-20-2005 06:21 PM

I'd stick with three maybe four price options. surfer get easily confused and have trouble making up their mind. limit their choices and you'll have better ratios

Linkster 08-20-2005 06:27 PM

I like the idea of adding in the 3 month option - but from the outset I would rename the options to something catchy - instead of the 4 listings all saying the same thing basically rename them to their own "fullmeal pass" "the big kahuna" or something that goes along with your tours - a list of repeated options will just get a quick glance wheras a list of different catchy names might get a little longer stare :)

Dalai lama 08-20-2005 06:45 PM

3 month option would be good, but then that monthly memberships also can upgrade to 3 month memberships.

Bugbee 08-20-2005 06:47 PM

3 month membership is a good idea and seems to work well.

Mutt 08-20-2005 06:48 PM

def add a three month option - you won't get a ton of them but when you see a 60 dollar membership rebill it's a real pick me up.

Pornwolf 08-20-2005 06:50 PM

3 month = Biggie pass

Heh heh

Good idea Steve. I was just looking for an excuse to be able to charge more/offer more options, this is a great way of doing it.

MikeVega 08-20-2005 06:55 PM

Steve ... I've been meaning to talk to you about this ... i think you were one of ... if not the first guy to start that type of join structure ... i really want to do something like that when we launch our other solo sites .... I'm going to hit you up next week about it if your available .. :thumbsup

PMGames 08-20-2005 06:58 PM

Steve....ever thought about experienmenting with those different price points to see if some of them convert better with your different sources of traffic? Where some sources might convert at a lower price point, but others might actually convert better on the higher one? Would be something interesting to test out.

SteveLightspeed 08-20-2005 07:00 PM

Interesting stat, 60% of our full month joins take the $39.95 10pack -- people are willing to pay more if they feel they are getting a better deal

It is very tempting to lease or sell the Lightspeed4 software to other sponsors. It has a lot of features that would be particularly useful to other single girl programs.

That's a very cool stat. It makes sense. I think most of us Supersize our fries whenever we are ordering at McDonalds. Human nature I guess.

venus 08-20-2005 07:11 PM

I have a apache patch that does the same thing. been using it for about 2 or 3 years, works great.
its some patch that has to be compiled into apache.

Steve....it is always refreshing to see you in action.

I have taught marketing, branding and sales techniques for over 15 years now in mainstream, and it is refreshing to see good business put into action. :)

I always think about who got the richest during the Gold Rush --- Levi Strauss, by selling jeans to the gold miners. :bowdown

Bama 08-20-2005 07:29 PM

Steve,

What percentage of surfers sign up for the multi site deal at the onset versus those that upgrade from the inside?

What percentage of surfers who do sign up for the multi site deal sign up for the 34.95 & 39.95 deal over the 29.95 deal?

For surfers who take advantage of the upgrade once joined, what option do they most frequently upgrade to- +1, +5 or +10?

Of those that take advantage of the upgrade once a member, on which month of being a member do they decide to upgrade?

I'm a stats junkie too, and I can answer all those questions. But I can also make a few bucks by selling all that info as a consultant... My "Secret Sauce" recipe isn't free!

Bama 08-20-2005 07:37 PM

LOL - that's one of the thing that I've been doing for program owners for years as a consultant - fix people's stuff so they maximize their revenue dollars while they have the surfer's attention.

The stat you *most* want is what site the surfer joins once they've decided to quit being a "LightWhacker" - do you have system in place to help get that info?

SteveLightspeed 08-20-2005 07:40 PM

The other idea I've always wanted to experiment with is allowing affiliates to set their own price points. Basically I would say "I want to keep 40% of a $30.00 sale ($12.00 per sale)" -- so $12 becomes the "wholesale" price and the affiliate can set his own pricepoint and keep the rest. Basically exactly the way retail sales works. Affiliates could compete on price that way.

Yes, we keep track of which sites make the most frontline sales as well as which are most often selected as a secondary part of a bundled sale or upgrade -- we are able to pay our models more fairly using both stats.

Bama 08-20-2005 07:54 PM

No, I'm talking about the secondary fetish. You already know the surfer likes single girl sites but at some point they'll quit your site/s and go off and join someone else's sites/program like MaxCash where they can get some Leather or Interracial content.

Do you know what secondary fetishes the surfer feels the need to address once they quite being a "LightWhacker"?

It could also be done fairly easily with mod_auth_mysql and the right ccbill postback script :)

Of course we know what sells best of the upsells in our members area and from our exits, but I don't have info on the surfer once he leaves our network. I'm sure only a clever spyware guy could generate those kind of stats! Know anyone like that?

Yes, that would be the best thing since sliced bread if ccbill did this. Showing up as one transaction would be awesome. Members wouldn't get all freaked out by seeing 3 transactions when they thought they were signing up for one site. Chargebacks should drop a shit load.

Exactly -- its like a pre-checked crosssell to your other sites, without the chargeback risk. We've also been experimenting with including "off network" sites as an option for members in our bundled sales. Initial tests were promising.

Nice, how do we get in on that? :)

Booze, Stippers, and hookers work well as bribes. Not with ME of course, but in general....

venus 08-20-2005 08:19 PM

I dont use ccbill.
Mine does not use mysql, basically what it is, is a patch that changes how apache reads htpasswd so you can like use a text file that points to the password files you want checked for a correct password.

tony286 08-20-2005 08:35 PM

I think its good idea

Bama 08-20-2005 08:36 PM

LOL - Of COURSE I DO!

But I'm not actually talking about using any spyware type program/s to gather that information. We do custom stuff that allows the surfer to tell you everything you could ever want to know about themselves so that you you're able to provide the seconday (and third) fetishes so you're able to retain your customers for a much longer time.

God I love thought provoking, serious business threads!

Do you (when a member joins your site) create an on the fly login page for that member that allows them to choose the content of that page? Do you allow the member to switch which 10 sites he has access to on a monthly basis? Do you, on day 20, remind him to choose which 10 sites he wants access to the following month? Do you allow him the ability to add photo's of models to his "favorites" - opps, back up a sec - do you allow him to have a favorites folder?

But, we're actually getting too specific's and off topic a bit but I'm gonna give you a freebie cause:
1. I like your business threads
2. You weren't too far off base in your own thinking - just hadn't quite put all the pieces together yet.....

Let's say you gave someone who had a webmaster program with 20 sites - each a different niche - and bought X memberships to each of their sites for (let's pick an easy number here) $20/month on a 60/40 rev split anyways $9 per membership per month.

You add the 3rd option you were speaking of "3 month option maybe, 10 sites per month at like $99?"

We'll, you can see where I'm going to with this....
Run the numbers and see what that does for you

xclusive 08-20-2005 08:38 PM

Great Idea love how you are always tweaking your program a lot of programs just throw shit out there and that's it.

Bama 08-20-2005 08:40 PM

Oh, what I forgot to mention is that on the 3 month/10 sites/$99 price structure, you give them access to 8 or your sites and 2 offsite memeberships
