Fuck, scheduled car maintenance $519???
Just called my hyundai dealership to get my 2001 Elantra 4 year / 60k mile scheduled maintenance done. $519 plus tax!! Someone tell me what I should pay for the following:
-Oil Change & Filter -Fuel Filter Change -Air Cleaner Filter -Platinum Spark plugs (4) -Engine coolant replaced -Timing Belt (optional) -Whole bunch of shit inspected, like brakes, joints, fluids, etc I'd think like $250 tops not $519. Is that outrageous??? |
Yes it's outrageous and probably because it's required to keep you under warranty?

Anyone got a price I should be aiming for instead? |
holy feck thats a lot
|
Don't take it to the dealer. The warranty will still cover it if you take it elsewhere and keep the receipts.
|
That does seem overpriced but it's part of the warranty program..they nail you either way
|
timing belt costs at least half of that estimate.
your 250$ estimate is correct (without the timing belt) |
wow - that's a lot for a Hyundai....but my Jag XJR (370 HP) was quoted at $1200 for a 60K service by the dealer. went to a good independant guy and still paid $700+

The timing belt is the biggest cost, it is also the one thing that you will regret not getting done if it breaks on you.
