I heard a rumor about Blogger

I heard a rumor that they are shutting down blogs with hardcore adult content. Anyone experiencing this?

Personally I think if they are, you should be thanking them for forcing you to get your own hosting and sending your traffic to yourself instead of to them.

Just_Dave 08-19-2005 11:08 AM

who knows more about this

Gungadin 08-19-2005 11:09 AM

Is there a recommended adult-only version of blogger?

Donny 08-19-2005 11:10 AM

I haven't heard anything about this. I use blogger but post to my own domains so maybe that's why I haven't heard about it. Also, God is on my side.

EroticySteve 08-19-2005 11:11 AM

I got emails this week from blog directories that said they were removing adult blogs from their directories. I only have mainstream blogs so I wasn't too worried.

I don't know if Google/Blogger would do that. I think it may just be rumors.

Since a lot of people host at Blogspot, how does 2257 effect them?

Thank you, it is a work in progress actually. It is eventually going to be a great little spider trap.

I have seen posts with people saying their blogs were deleted, and others saying there was some kind of a flag on the top of their blogs that wasn't there before.

llporter 08-19-2005 04:47 PM

I haven't heard the rumor but if you read the TOS the ever vaguley defined 'adult' content is prohibited.

kektex 08-19-2005 04:50 PM

I have read elsewhere about people that have been contacted by blogger asking them to remove all hardcore content from the blogs. They allow softcore since they consider it artistic. It`s nowhere on the TOS though...

Technically, it's a violation of the rules:

2. Signature rules. Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of default size and color. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Yes there is a reason this is so big. Also putting your text in a cell and making it look like a button is against the rules. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

Carry on.

A few months ago, I noticed a few hardcore blogspot sites that were shut down. Don't know if it was because they were linking blogs together within their "network" or if it was because of hardcore content or a combination of them both.

On a side note, lately blogger has also shut down numerous blogs that were using tools to "blog spam" as well. They're really cracking the whip.

VicD 08-19-2005 05:04 PM

they shut me down once

I think its a great idea that blogger is shutting down hardcore content. Anysurfer can make a blog using blogger (many has). So if its shut down it would mean less competition for us *real* webmasters.

I hope it happens to all blog companies.

PussyTeenies 08-19-2005 06:37 PM

strict rules regarding adult @ blogger dicate removal when encouterd.. so ...

my :2 cents:

This means the blog won't be promoted on Blogger.com but will still be available on the web ? we prefer to keep in mind that one person's vulgarity is another's poetry. Or something like that.

The entire concept is a liitle weird with the allowing others to rate the questionability of the content

Quote:

The "Flag?" button is a means by which readers of Blog*Spot can help inform us about potentially questionable content, so we can prevent others from encountering such material by setting particular blogs as "unlisted."

montel 08-19-2005 07:55 PM

damn i hope they dont do this

fris 08-19-2005 07:56 PM

What they are doing is allowing people to complain about a blog that they find by browsing. If they dont like the blog, they flag it, and then it gets shut down after a few. So you can bet that the pope is surfing blogger and bitching his gready little ass off.

I'm stupid and think I should be able to post my digital drivel to someone else's servers with impunity.

I also think I should bitch and complain using some completely unrelated rallying cry if anyone dares question my authority.

While they never "allowed" it, they never enforced that rule

Well, it wasn't really directed just to you, more to anyone in the situation . . .

"Possibly" was directed to you specifically, the rest wasn't.

I guess I should have said, "If you feel the same as JoesTraffic, and you have a blog with Google, host your own blog and you won't have a problem, hit them in the pocketbook."

Rui 08-20-2005 03:07 AM

This are actualy great news IMHO :)

suesheboy 08-20-2005 04:15 AM

What a bitch.

I have had a sex toy blog up for months with blogger http://www.sextoysblog.com and it works great. I have three mainstream blogs that are doing far better than I ever imagined.

My bitch is I am just starting a softcore blog and I dont want to waste my time if they only will take it down.

I use Blogger to build traffic feeder blogs only. My real blogs are hosted on my domains, so I'm not too worried.
