Terrorist Attack on US ships in Jordan
 

Three rockets were fired at US ships in port in Jordan - and missed. Seems to me like these guys can't hit the side of a barn.

AMMAN, Jordan - Attackers fired at least three rockets from Jordan early Friday, with one narrowly missing a docked U.S. Navy ship and killing a Jordanian soldier. It was the most serious militant attack on the Navy since the USS Cole was bombed in 2000.

Another rocket fell close to a nearby airport in neighboring Israel, officials said. Jordanian and Israeli authorities said militants fired the Katyusha rockets from a warehouse in the Jordanian Red Sea port of Aqaba.

A group linked to al-Qaida claimed responsibility in an Internet statement. The statement purportedly from the Abdullah Azzam Brigades could not immediately be verified.

And I loved this part:

"A group of our holy warriors ... targeted a gathering of American military ships docking in Aqaba port and also in Eilat port with three Katyusha rockets and the warriors returned safe to their headquarters," the statement said.

Since when do holy warriors use rockets?

Its difficult to fight and conquer a cell based enemy which these terrorist groups are. They have no command and control centers, no large scale forces, no tanks, ships, planes or other visible equipment to target, no military bases.

Its like an army of rats scurrying inside your walls. You can kill one, you can kill another, but there will always be more rats hiding somewhere waiting for their opportunity to pop out.

Its next to impossible to win battles with an enemy deploying these tactics and the US Military is simply not structured to fight this type of invisible army.

Kind of reminds me of those police officers on "cops". Two officers pulled over a big white truck and got into a shoot out. The cops fired twenty-one shots, didn't hit the suspects, and didn't even hit the truck.

depends on the shit and where it hits

the hulls on those ships are solid it might take a little damage but they are designed to go into naval battles and I am sure they can take much bigger explosions directly to the hull then some shoulder fired rockets


BattleShips are Strong! its like trying to take out a M1A1 Tank with a 50 Cal. its most likely not going to happen but everything does have weak points. So it will depend also if the Holy Warroirs have that knowledge

When I was a Gunner on Tanks I had to know about every tank we could come apon in battle where it should be hit what its sillouette looks like what its speed is how fast can it fire all kinds of stuff and that was for hundreds of vehicles including aircraft
