DJ AIREK "NEW" Mix Series CD Production Update <PICS>
as many of you know i have been working on the next cd release. many of you also know that i don't just release anything out there for people to put their ears on. well.
here is your chance to have some influence on a cd that will press 40k plus copies for distribution within our industry and retail outlets throughout the country. if you know or remember what Timeless Classics VOL 1. (the one with aimee sweet on the cover) was about, that was the junior to the senior year of what the next release is going to be. The RAGE ON! compilation is slotted to trump Timeless Classics VOL 1. and set crossover standards between music genres that normally are not associated with each other. WHERE DO YOU COME IN? it is duly my responsibilty to listen to and consider musical tastes of people from many, many walks of musical backgrounds and exposure. what i would like from you is to tell me honestly what you musically hot right now. what i am talkin about is on all levels. all scenes. pop, hip hop, rack, alt rock, mainstream, etc. i will take this input and pull different elements from different musical genres to make RAGE ON! the best it can be. if no one knows yet, what i have become known for (and this is strictly for informational purposes), is taking different styles of music, vocals, and samples from different eras of music, smashing them all together, and making it into something that is still very 2005, and still very old and new at the same time. so, give me your input. what would you like to see on the CD. what can you picture 5000 people jumping up and down to and having a great time under lights and loud speakers? don't hold back, don't think anything is stupid, just spit it out. let me deal with the rest. :) Thanks for reading the long read, and please bump for artistic expression. :thumbsup |

Trance isn't something i listen to often ..but Nader sent me some and i play it at the office from time to time .. right now i find myself listening to a lot of the hip hop from Houston .. Mike Jones / Paul Wall and Slim Thug ... but that will change in a week .. :thumbsup

yeah, this next one is not trance. i haven't distributed a trance cd ever. the one that i gave out at internext(with aimee sweet on the cover) is a style called mashup. its still electronic music, but it takes several elements of different styles and eras and crushes them all together. the new series will focus on this type of thing as well and incorporate more aspects of more genres of current music that you hear in your everyday lives. it will still be electronic based, but its definitely going to have a hard "rage" edge to it. it will incorporate elements of hip-hop and edgey alt rock bootleg mixes that i will do post production to get the feel i am looking for. the idea is for no one to be able to identify it or label it. mike jones will def be making an appearance on the CD. the very cool part is i can rip elements of what i want. for example i can peel the vocals off of mike jones song "back then the didn't want me, now i'm hot they all on me" song, and lay it over a sick rock beat. this is what i am talking about. jonesy can post his eminem and 50 cent remixes to this thread if he sees this to show you a little of what else i mean with that. pimp pimp playa! can't wait to see you guys again. where are those pics? yo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |

Personally, I love remixes. There is a Lenny Kravitz dance remix that I fuckin love...but have only heard it at Burning Man. :) But that kinda Rock/house remix makes me wet. Looking forward to it!
