Anybody know the guy who owns Whitehouse.com?

Does he post here, or on any other boards?

It's been online for quite some time.. Read an article long ago about students looking for white house info and that's what they got..
I guess something like 'whitehouse' can't be trademarked. I think it was more of a slang thang that became accepted usage.

This guy also has Madonna.com and she was, or still is trying to sue him for it because she says she has the name trademarked, but numerous domain names have 'madonna' in it, so that must have gone against her. He wants to donate the name to a hospital if they agree not to transfer it to her.. Go figger.. :)

He apparently didn't lose the suit.. The article I just read said that on 12 Oct, 2000 he decided to transfer the name to her.. Oh well.. poor little thing.. I guess she got her way..

The guy with whitehouse.com is one of those that bought up a bunch of names way back when..

So I guess nobody's done business with/bought a domain off him?

He also bought a whole shit load of ...sucks.com domains.

Those are legal. I went to a legal seminar re Internet law held here in LA. Those are considered parody domains [e.g. microsoftsucks.com, intelsucks.com, etc] and does not fall under trademark infringement due to the "freedom of speech" issue of parody. We all have Luke of 2LiveCrew to thank for the case that set the precedent for this heheheeh :thumbsup

Actually, Larry Flint set that precedent when Jerry Fawell sued him!:winkwink:

whitehouse.com guy is high profile and has been doing what he does with that site for many years....

I wouldn't be suprised if Madonna made him an offer he couldn't refuse ;)
