Program to cut videos

We are getting a lot of new videos shot and rendered, plus we have some coming from a newr source. The work splitting them is slowing us down.

Is there a simple program that will split videos into 2 minute segments in, WMV and DIVX?

We have Easy Video Splitter but for some reason it crashes when we try to split the WMV version.

Any help would be appreciated, doing it in Adobe Premier is slow.

Hi, i use this command line utility for splitting wmvs: asfcut.exe. it's fast and i doesn't reencode files.
You may get it at http://www.radioactivepages.com/

You can get Easy Splitter to work on WMV? Then WTF are we doing wrong.

For us it crashes, what type of codec packs do you use?

It is a bit buggy to be honest..I've noticed a few problems time to time cutting mp4s and divx avi files. Sometimes it splits them just fine..the other time..NOPE! No answer for ya bud..just an acknowledgement of the problem you talked about.

Well at least I'm not alone on this.

Codec "packs" ARE your problem!

Codec "packs" are often compiled of "HACKED" version codecs that are not compliant to standards. They will work with certain configurations, and not with others.

There is no easy "cheap" solution. To avoid having problems that will affect some people and not others, you need REAL, PURCHASED codecs, and a decent quality video edit suite. A decent entry level edit suite may set you back $3500.00, plus countless man hours learning to properly use it - The learning curve is pretty steep.

If this is not within your budget, then you are much better to farm out your video editing to somebody who has the tools and experinece.

Saving a few bucks trying to DIY might just end up costing you much more in the long run. Do you really want clients unhappy (or worse doing chargebacks) because they cannot play the video you edited with a codec "pack" ??

Just my 2¢

And for anybody interested, our going rate for straight clip cutting without any post production effects is $1.00 per minute of the finished clips.
