If he'll land your hand that close, he must be hopping up on your finger by now? If not, just press it slightly in to his chest, he should hop right up!

Well, with my first cockatiel that would be the case, but Fred has a bit of an attitude problem. Once I get him out of the cage I can get him to go from hand to hand using the chest method, but he isn't the most cooperative of birds.

I think Loryn will confirm that hand feeding is a HUGE step forward for Fred.

I have an African Gray, and they, any bird can be a major pain in the ass. Lucky for you, Fred can not bite anywhere near as hard as my bird.
