I'm in Atlanta. Now I have to buy a new laptop computer, any sugestions.
First of all, I'd like to say I didn't have much online time since wednesday, so if you wanted/tried to talk to me on this period and couldn't it's just because I'm so full of stuff to do with the moving and all. I'm sorry for that.
Ok, I have to buy a new laptop computer. And I'd like to hear some suggestions. I liked the Sony Vaios a lot, but they are a little more expensive then the other brands so I guess I'll stick with either HP or Toshiba. This is the exact model I had my eyes on, what do you guys think? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1115365992798 Any input about Toshiba laptops would be great. I noticed Gateways computers are MUCH cheaper than everybody else. Are they not reliable? Are they worse than the other brands? |
microcenter is a good place better than best buy , I have a gateway laptop and love it .Nev er had a problem
|
I used to sell laptops many years ago, back before Dell went direct only. At the time the best you could get were Dell and Toshiba, and I don't think things have changed much since. Toshiba support was always excellent too...

http://www.microcenter.com/at_the_stores/duluth.html BTW: Best buy has an offer online right now that if you buy a Toshiba laptop you get a free 512 Mb flash drive, worth $80. That's why I had chosen Best buy. |

As soon as I get my laptop (I think I'll do it today), I'm going to hit all your atlanta folks up! I'll try to make to one of the parties you'll be djing, I won't promise only because I'm still a little lost and I'm sure that if I go alone to a party I'll end up getting drunk. And than I wouldn't be able to drive back to my cheap ass little hotel down in Riverdale. |
One time BUMP!

Welcome to Atlanta, where the Playas play...
As for laptops, I can tell you I bought my Vaio at CompUSA and I absolutely love this laptop, its by far the best I have ever had! My resume includes Dell (3), Compaq and Toshiba. Matt |
That Toshiba looks pretty good.
I like Microcenter too.. you may want to check out Fry's http://www.frys.com/ (shitty site but big store) I bought my laptop with my Visa and it automatically doubled my warranty.. when it broke 1 month after my 12 month warranty was up Visa paid the $1000 repair bill. Amex has the same program. |
Wait a week or so and ARS are giving them away free... its true.
|
Welcome to the USA Tranza, I hope you like Atlanta, there are a lot of good people down that way
|

Ok, I just bought the Toshiba. I just hope I get a confirmation soon from Best Buy so that I can pick it up at the downtown store tonight!
|
Fucking Best Buy. I was supposed to get the confirmation e-mail over 1 hour ago. I'm still waiting for it here at GT and it never arrives!!
I want to go eat! |

I was at a pawn shop a couple weeks ago and I asked the head guy there where their laptops were. He said that he keeps them in the back. I asked him why he didn't have them displayed for people to see. He replied that he just puts them up on eBay. He was more than willing to show me a few of the good ones. This one he showed me was easily a $2500 laptop. It was sweet. It had a widescreen display and looked brand new. I almost bought it for $800 right then and there, but didn't.
Moral of the story: If you want a real deal on a laptop, go to a pawn shop. If they don't have any on display, ask. :winkwink: |
