I was a freshman in college when it was just getting big. I set everyone up in the dorms under me so we could make beer money. With proxies and tools that surfed while you slept, I made close to $1000/month for a few months. I'm sure there are people that made even more. Eventually our network got busted for using automated tools. The funny thing was that even when they caught you using automated tools, they just gave you a warning.

Indeed, that was the beginning of the dotcom hype. |

<------ had more than 15000 money generating members in his downline. I LOVED AA. They were the reason I am here today... showed me that there was money in the internet game :)

we have found an ALL AVANTAGE star!! Now its time to start the party. This is what the purpose of the thread was for - to find an ALL ADVANTAGE star. Now regale us with tales of how much money you made from it. |
I made some bucks with them :)
|
i made a shitload with them, probably 10 grand in about 2-3 months, and i was about 15
|
I remember working at iBill and installing that on my PC, they didn't find it until 6 months later. Those extra late shifts helped.

how did you refer them Trax?
Talking about programs like AA, is there any similar programs still active or all dead? |
yeah i used that and a couple other ad programs like that. i wish i had a bigger monitor back then.
|
Back in the day, I use a piece of software to make it active even when i was not on the pc.. ahhh.

i used to love that shit back when I was in college in 99/00 |

I got a couple checks from Alladvantage.com. Like $30 each I think... I thought I was THE SHIT!
|
I had over 20k AA referrals and over 50k referrals between all of the get paid to surf programs. I would run around 8 banners at a time between the different programs that would consume my dialup connection. I made over 5k/month from get paid to surf for about a six month stretch.
I do believe permissive marketing can work in certain cases, but obviously it wasn't a profitable model at that time. Alladvantage's strategic plan was simply to pump up their membership base while operating on a loss using funds from venture capitalist. 1999 was the height of the dot com IPO and they simply were trying to become an attractive enough entity with a huge member base to eventually get to an IPO. March of 2000 began the dot com implosion and it wasn't long after that, that paid to surf became defunct. I attribute much of my online marketing skills today to what I learned during those get paid to surf days as everyone was in a frenzy to garner referrals. |
I made a few 50-60 dolla checks. Easy money back in the day.
|
had tons of referrals, got paid a couple of times... they still owe me money... :)

WHo cares, used them as a footer in gallerys back in 1999 or 2000 and made me a extra 3-5k a month. Well more the the hosting bill :thumbsup |
Ah... The good old days. I cashed out in the high $x,xxx range too - Legit, I might add. It did help being a mod at one of the most active forums at the time.
Anywhow, is there anyone doing the new trend nowadays: Paid surveys? |
fuck no, cos the internet was a gimmick back then. now its serious shit and you can make money in different areas.
my personal story of Alladvantage is competing with my best friend over who could get more downline. he was always shit, i was always good but i never went past 40 referrals and my check never went over $30 but to me i was like bill gates. but if its true that LARS ran alladvantage, this is a real eye opener and explains some of the direction AFF is taking since he went on board. expect a BIG fucking AFF GEO window that stays there at the bottom and searches for ugly women in your local area on a daily basis :1orglaugh |
