What Makes a Good Webmaster Party for YOU !!
What Makes a Good Webmaster Party for YOU !!
im trying to organise something during vegas but want to get feedback from you guys as to what YOU think makes a bad ass party for webmasters People ? Free booze ? feel free to add in what you want for suggestions |
When someone says VIP...it has to actually mean something !!!!
|
Girls Girls Girls :winkwink:
|
free lapdances, this year there wasn't a free lapdance suite.
|
A good webmaster party should be somewhat exclusive that you keep non-stakeholders out of the socialization, but not so exclusive that people who deserve and want to be there are excluded. Free booze and food are key.
|
Hot girls (yes I am a girl, but even I like nice scenery, haha!)
Open bar Snacks to soak up the alcohol, haha Good music, but not so loud we can't talk Enough room for easy circulation Keep out the non-industry folks, haha, except for chicks I actually prefer there to be no VIP-only because it keeps you from being able to hang out with and network with anyone else who is or isn't VIP, depending on what pass you have, lol. Great service. |
My opinion. :2 cents: :)
*On site location *Invite only, with passes handed to the attendees to bring a few guests. *open bar *food / snacks *ROOM... Lot's of it! ( no one likes being scrunched at these things, and some of us would like to make deals... so room to move around and get away from the croud is necessary IMO ) |
lots of hotties. and free drinks :thumbsup

okay so far ive gotten
Girls Food Music vip - if its a suite party that might not be easy to do but i guess well think more about location based on this now Drunk Irish guys .. well i can bring me and booze ? will that do jay ;) |
If it was in a strip club would that satisfy the music and girls part of it ?
|
The very FIRST question you should ask is one of yourself...
What is the purpose of the party? Appreciation shown to current business dealings you have with people and showing them a good time with no new business discussed or trying to increase or create new business? Once you've decided that - you can get together a great game plan for the type party you should be putting together. |
i doubt anyone ever throws a party with no new business in mind ?
New business is always a possibility with any contact |
I prefer sexy irishmen at all my webmaster events
|
why am i getting worried now joe !

Strip clubs in vegas are NOT agood place to throw a webmaster party just FYI but thhey ave a lot of clubs there too do something in, you would be better hiring a DJ for the music, and paying some hot cicks to come and hang out vrs trying to pay the money it would cost for strippers I will be moved in down there in Oct. and will see whhat i can do to help you out on this front .

see i actually beg to differ. the majority of site owners are male - i prefer the sasauge fest parties till about 10 or 11pm cause i can network and get some work done - then i wana go somewhere with girls and a few close people that i like from the industry.... if i goto a party with all women early i'm in party mode all night and don't get much real networking done. one exception would be amateur site parties - they have lots of hot women but you can network with them too :thumbsup |
so a lot of hot chicks but if theyre industry chicks its a bonus - got it sleazy ! !
And to make it a LIST party only - as in ur not on the list u dont get in - simple |
Do your homework - know who you want at your party and why you want them there and send out 75% of your invitatations prior to the show 25% to people you meet at the show. I've already decide which parties I'll attend and which I'll skip before I even leave for the show.
Have your party in stages Stage 1 - VIP's only - (7-8:30) feed them dinner, champagne, quiet music and make em' happy. Stage 2 - (9-10:30) Clear out the dinner table and bring in the people you'd like to get new business from. Have ample seating and again, quiet music so people can actually discuss business and network. If you're going to hire girls to be there, make sure they're an attraction rather than a distraction. Provide snacks and drinks Personally, I wouldn't try to keep an all-nite party going so there wouldn't be a stage 3 but if that's what you want - have an open door at 11:00 for all comers... you can crank up the music then and go off the hook if you like. Don't throw a party on the first nite of the show. People want to get a little taste of everything from everybody and are going to party hop. Folks you'll want to talk to will be in and out before you can get the chance to chat to them all. |
good advice thanks

Seriously though, there were some great points. Namely music (volume and type) suiting the stage of the party, enough friendly girls to offset the typical sausage fest, and the right mix of people. Try and do something different then the typical show party and have a goal. If you're goal is to make your customers happy, ask them what it will do to make that happen. If your goal is to become well known or market a new product then figure out how to brand your party and get the right people there. Just some ideas though. |
cool place, nice food, and lovely girls.
|
free drugs
|
And, have some very personable, fun people associated with your company to mingle with your guests and make an impression when you are busy with other people. Look for people who have an established reputation (not necessarily with another company, but just as "good people"); who are fun to be around, but still are perceived as professional. People who won't drink to much and get sloppy, but aren't cold fish who can't mingle and give off a holier-than-thou aura.
Roger V asked in another thread which companies were most successful marketing or branding at the show, and I am a firm believer that it's the people you send out among the attendees to mingle and chat people up who make the biggest impression...far more than any impact of signs or freebies, IMO. I have signed up with a good dozen new sponsors since the show simply because I got to chat with the people behind the scenes, and I liked what I saw and heard, so they are foremost in my mind, more than the ones who had people who didn't bother with me. :2 cents: |
