Me too. I'd give it to an animal shleter or humane society.

It's no ones fault but humans, that animals are in there (%99 of the time)

adamthick 08-16-2005 11:45 PM

I don't have to give anything to any charity. I just do, cuz I enjoy it.

Mostly local homeless shelters an org. that help with domestic abuse cases.

Grinder 08-16-2005 11:51 PM

Scottish Rite Children's Burn Center
http://www.shrinershq.org/hospitals/burninst/index.html

Nothing is worse than a burned child.

It's almost totally funded by the Shriners. So when you see the guys in the road with funny hats.... throw them some money.

If you want to donate money, I always use www.give.org to do some research first. It list how much money actually goes to the charity.

je_rome 08-16-2005 11:55 PM

humane society for me too.. i've always supported that charity.

krazyone 08-17-2005 12:40 AM

The help feed krazyone campaign...... because I would still come out a winner!!!

Communitycolo.net

Also known as Online Policy Group. Free (as in speech and price) colocation and ISP. They're all non profit so donations are even tax deductible. They're the ones who sued over the Diebold voting machine scandal. They won too. They're a pretty great group - http://www.communitycolo.net

SleazyDream 08-17-2005 01:06 AM

people who i know it will make a difference in their lives

reynold 08-17-2005 01:12 AM

Charities dedicated to helping poor African communities.
They are teh ones that badly need our help.

Miss Vlasta 08-17-2005 02:56 AM

Charity societies sucks. I don´t believe my money would get to the people that really need it.
I send money when there is flooding, earthquakes etc., evenghought I don´t believe they get there.

reed_4 08-17-2005 03:25 AM

i would donate my money to poor people of africa.

Because unlike people, they can't do shit to help themselves...and there are tons of irresponsible dumbasses(people) out there that throw out pets for whatever reasons.

sternyduke 08-17-2005 03:35 AM

cure for breast cancer benefits which i am doing a 5k walk for this october. i'm more of an ass and legs guy but they dont have any cure for ass cancer walks i know of or i would donate towards those instead, seriously.

Cherry Pie 08-17-2005 03:35 AM

I donate to St. Jude's Research Hospital. They do so much great work, and the family doesn't have the burden of having to pay for treatment and housing while their child is there.

CamDude 08-17-2005 05:58 AM

Shriners

I give annually to the Shriners. My dad is a Shriner and I have personally seen the work they do. It is all for the kids and they do not charge a penny to the patients or their families.

From their website http://www.shrinershq.org/hospitals/factsfigs.html : Shriners Hospitals? total budget for 2005 is $625 million, of which $580 million is targeted for operating expenses (including $28 million for research) and 45 million for buildings and equipment expenditures. During the 83-year history of Shriners Hospitals, approximately $7 billion has been spent to operate Shriners Hospitals, and over $1.7 billion has been spent on construction and renovation.

Juilan 08-17-2005 06:03 AM

orphanage- for the kids

u-Bob 08-17-2005 06:24 AM

I'd donate to "kill a beaver"
(i love trees ;) )

Spunky 08-17-2005 06:27 AM

Wish foundation..Those poor kids deserve it

sfera 08-17-2005 06:27 AM

i would give it to my local martial arts program for the youth. Martial arts youth programs really help these kids that have horrible parents and teach them discipline and how to really win in life :thumbsup

Dirty-Dough 08-17-2005 06:36 AM

I would buy a piece of rainforest..

AcidMax 08-17-2005 06:45 AM

I have always given to the Pediatric Aids Foundation. The kids never had a chance. It's a great charity.

Barefootsies 08-17-2005 06:50 AM

VFW (Vetrans of Foreign Wars)

I always give when I see them around annually. There are a number of reasons. A lot of my great uncles, and family served in WWII, and a various other wars. These guys fought so I did not have to (methaphorically speaking).

They have more than EARNED any donation, and normally I will give them everyhing I have on me.

I remember one year, I dropped $200 on the guy, and he kept trying to give it back. I shook his hand, thanked him for his service, and just said, "You fought the war(s), so I didn't have to and I a sizable donation's the LEAST I can do".

:pimp

Peaches 08-17-2005 06:56 AM

I donate to:

St. Judes
Arthitis Foundation
Local Pug Rescue
Compassionate Friends
Boys Town
Food/books to some military charities that get them to the overseas troops

And a few other local charities. And I'll always chunk a few 20's in the fireman's boots and for the Shriners :)

http://www.give.org is a good site to check and see how much goes to the charitity, how much for admin costs, etc.

SAM SIYC 08-17-2005 07:25 AM

environment.....cuz soon we'll all lose our big blue home! :helpme

I can personally vouch for the shriners, when I was a kid (8) I was in a car accident that left me paralyzed from the waist down. After being in the hospital for a year, my parents were pretty much broke and the shriners paid for me to go to their hospital and fit me with braces (which was important to me at the time) so I could walk. They asked and got absolutely nothing in return, and all this was totally unsolicited from my family. A friend of the family was a shriner and he put it all together and kind of surprised us with it. Really a great organization and they deserve every penny you ever send them! I'd also like to put in a plug for the National Wheelchair Basketball Association NWBA over the years I've seen many lives ruined by accidents and other things and I've seen hundreds of people who thought their lives were over start participating in sports again and make a 100% attitude change. As a youngster it's what I focused and excelled in and it made such a difference in my rehabilitation I couldn't begin to explain.

A large chunck of this money comes from the Shriner's Circus. They have them all over the country.

So take the family and spend some money. It's a great way to have fun while giving.

Dalai lama 08-17-2005 09:47 AM

I wouldn't give anything to anyone, but set something up myself. Proberly something in Thailand.
