What would happen if tgp's and free sites were outlawed today.

My bet is we would all make a shitload more money.

I get so sick of trying to sell shit, when there is so much free porn everywhere.

It would be like trying to sell cars when every car dealer is giving out 10 day test drives. :disgust

no more tgps. no more gallery makers, no more advertising money ( thehun/sleazydream ect and anyone else selling traffic/banner spots ), less design work for designers. less traffic ?

Maybe less tgps.

All the smart and big TGPers would still make your life rough, and you'd still be playing the victum as you do now, we would evolve into other aspects of the biz, and still be above you taking your money and making it hard on you as you seem to be expressing now..

If the traffic was so fucking valuable, why would they be selling banners and spots. Wouldn't you keep it for yourself and make coin.

No. Some people are good at converting galleries. Some people are good at selling spots. The market is not as simple as you seem to believe.

spanky, your focus is too narrow. back in the day before TGP's there were less people making more money, now it's kill or be killed. If TGP's were outlawed, it would all go back to the newsgroups. If you think converting TGP traffic is hard, try converting newsgroups. You'll see your entire site free to download and not be able to do a single thing about it but sit there and wish there were a safer more effective way to market to the masses, that would pull them away from news groups.

TGP traffic blows because it is exactly whats in the members area. You can find every set for any site for free by browsing TGPs. Why pay for what you can get for free?

Why can I download and listen to 100,000s of mp3 music samples on Amazon.com and they keep adding more and more, and in bumped up quality? Surely they're idiots, too.

In 2000 I made $50k that year from one set of softcore pics with an AVS (SexKey) and only got $10/sale. The same type of pics can be seen for free on any TGP a million times over. I adapt of course but it still brings a tear to my eye.

Agree .. good old times are definitely lost :( But you can still try SEO if you don't like TGPs. There are still newbie surfers who have no idea that there are some TGPs :)

You know, alot of people in this thread seem to be of this "adapt and evolve" attitude but then viciously defend against any criticism of their current business model. Some of you guys posting in this thread have alot of traffic on your sites, but do you honestly think that any of you are using the ultimate business model for making use of TGP traffic? That there can be no better way of marketing than you are doing now? That you have no need to adapt or evolve to the fact that there's so much free hardcore available that only 1:25k to 1:50k vitiors to a gallery are likely to buy something?

This business model is like that of a vendor who only sells one beverage at a football stadium filled with 50,000 people and decides to start selling at more stadiums to increase revenue instead of figuring out why they're not selling more where they're at.

Sales on my TGP nearly quadrupled after removing the hardcore and making no other significant changes. My site still trades with sites that have tons of hardcore galleries. I just quit giving away what I'm trying to sell on my site. I post softcore instead of hardcore and the sales ratios improve. I give out less free pictures on a gallery and the sales ratios improve. Is it really that hard to understand why that is?

the wohle discustion started the same when thumb TGP's did emerge, Oh tomuch giving away and we don't make anymore money. Learn how to Tweake your TGP and you'll make nice $$, and i don't want to know how many Paysites would have Problems to get the Surfers without the TGP's. In the old days 96,97 and so there where the Hun (TGP ) Persian Kitty and a few TGP's Link collections which where known. Today there are thousends of Sites which do help drive Surfers to paysites even new ones and small ones so many more Ppl. do make $$ today then 10 Years ago. So live with that and adopt your marketing to it and all is fine.
