Anyone ever have acupuncture done?

I've heard a lot of good things. I'm thinking about setting up an appointment.

by accident a few times

I tried it for smoking, it didnt work. To be fair though I had my arm twisted in to going, and I dont think anything can stop you smoking if you really are not commited.

It was interesting some of the stuff the told me.

acupuncture is bullshit yet if you go in there believing it will work, it will work for you, its a placebo effect.

Several years ago I had a cliff diving accident and subsequently had post-concussion symptoms such as massive headaches and insomnia. I went to every doctor you could imagine and was put on all kinds of drugs. They didn't really help and nothing worked until I tried acupuncture.

I really think it saved my life. If I couldn't get the headaches under control or sleep more than 10 hours a [I]week[B] I would have probably checked out.

Best of luck.

The accupuncture school here has $10 sessions where you get treated by students. I tried it once... kinda cool, but I don't know if it really did anything. I had some bad neck pain at the time and it really started burning after that. Maybe it helped a little, not sure.

I had some back pain so I went and had acupuncture done and I didn't like it, my back hurt worse for 2 days.

:(

x-vision 08-16-2005 12:21 PM

went for back pain. Didn't do a thing.

LittleSassy 08-16-2005 12:34 PM

My mom had a sciatic (sp?) nerve in her lower back and used to get shots in her back from the doctor. They didn't help so she tried acupuncture and after just a couple of sessions, there was less pain and eventually went away.

ive always wanted to try that.

2257-Ben 08-16-2005 01:25 PM

I've had it done... it didn't help my problem much but it did do some good.

After Shock Media 08-16-2005 01:26 PM

1. the needles do not hurt at all. Feels a little funny though.
2. I do not think it really helps but who the fuck really knows. It seems to help some people and not others. If you are just interested in trying it out and so on cool go for it. Just do not put faith in it to heal or fix anything that really needs real medical treatment.

I've used it on several occasions and am currently for a frozen shoulder... works but you cant just do one session

Sort of relaxing and helpful if you get someone good. Nightmarish if you get someone bad. Just kinda there if you get someone average.

I tried it once, and I was simply amazed by how effective it was. Oriental medicine is really amazing. :thumbsup

My problem too :(

Vitasoy 08-16-2005 08:06 PM

Needles scare me, so no.

Sly 08-16-2005 08:10 PM

Recent studies have been showing that it does nothing but give the placebo effect, like mentioned above.

Overall, I believe the mind often times has much more power than medicine.
