I need a photo gallery script for mainstream
 

Looking for recommendations for a script that will:
Allow users to create an account and I can approve/disapprove
Auto resize for thumbnails and big pictures
Allow users to post descriptions for each pic

Basically a community type gallery script with a decent admin
I will be using it for an automotive based site.

Mambo has a Zoom Gallery component that does all that, I believe, but your site needs to run on Mambo....I don't think they have standalone yet.

Sounds like Comus Thumbs would do?
