Phone Scam???
My GF just told me she got a call today, when she picked up she got this tape of an English lady (strange since we live in Holland) telling her she won a cruise to the Caribbean. To claim she was asked to press "9".
She was smart enough to just hang up but she was still wondering what it's about. Does anyone have experience with this... all I can think of is that the phone automatically dials some expensive number when pressing the "9" key but I have never heard about this. Thanks |
on a mobile phone?

It was probably just forwarding her to someone to close the deal. I guess it is a pre-qualify to see if people are interested.

My dear old Ma has been getting these on and off for a while now. Lately it has been at least 3-4 times a week. Different 'scams' etc. You have won a holiday, you have won £10000, you have won a kitchen. The best thing to do is hang up. I am going to get her # put on an exclusion list.

Here in the US the hook is that you have to pay port charges, or maybe buy a bunch of over priced vitamins or magazine subscriptions to claim the "win". Best rule of thumb, if she didnt enter she didnt win

yea, she "won" a cruise allright... when you press 9 you are directed to a call center that will gather your info, like, SSN, adress and creditcard info , once they have that they will tell you "we will send you the tickets in the mail" and they will go on a big fucking spending spree with a fake creditcard or simply buy stuff online etc.
it when through my country a few months back and people was acually stupid enough to believe they won eventhoug they never entered any lotteri etc.. |
