another plane crash....

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- A passenger plane crashed in remote western Venezuela with 152 passengers aboard early Tuesday, an aviation official said. It was unclear whether anyone survived.

PixeLs 08-16-2005 05:09 AM

I don't think there will be any survivor.

RedShoe 08-16-2005 05:11 AM

I think what's happening is all these planes are old now and starting to show signs of mechanical failure.

Then again it's 5:10 AM and I'm doped the fuck up on Hydrocodone

adamneve 08-16-2005 05:19 AM

let's see how many airlines will stop everything and start checking there planes

phonesex 08-16-2005 05:35 AM

Shit! WTF!!!! These airlines are being run by a bunch of monkeys.

asl 08-16-2005 06:11 AM

Nobody seems to want to say - I cant see anything about the kind of plane - So Im guessing Boeing and they dont want people to start panicing about them.

Edit: It seems it was an MD-80 - whatever that is.

Sarah_Jayne 08-16-2005 06:20 AM

it is odd to hope it was mechanical

VeriSexy 08-16-2005 06:29 AM

WTF that's like 3 in 2 weeks :Oh crap

An MD-81 is made by MacDonel Douglas - Owned by Boeing. :Oh crap

Shit happens, and I don't mean that to sound insensitive. I feel for the victims and their families but everything we do carries a risk that we must be comfortable with. If/when you're a statistic, can you really complain? Statistics are there for a reason. If 1 in 10000 die in a car crash over their lifetime it's conceivable that if the status quo is maintained that you or I could very well be a statistic. However, no one wants to be a statistic and when it's one of us we react different. Frankly, unless malicious intent is involved I'm okay with chalking something up to bad luck.

That is all that it is with these planes. Age isn't always a factor. mechanical failures aren't always a factor. Weather conditions may or may not have contributed. Electrical or electronic failure, hydraulic failure, wind sheer, severe turbulence any or all could be a cause for the crash.

My heart goes out to the victims but these shouldn't be circuses for litigation, blame and guilt.

anyone that flies is flipping the bird to reality, science, gravity, and life itself.

Do not tell death to fuck off and when it grabs you by the ass cry.

I dont fly anymore. I think flying is man's ultimate idea of inflated ego and when planes go down it really shows how in control gravity really is.

Airplanes are great, so are helicopters - but technically, they are ambitious and ego driven ideas that lead to death.

helicopters are one of the dumbest inventions ever, they crash ALL THE TIME - but we invest in them.

In other news, there were more than 100 fatal traffic accidents in the US yesterday. Maybe they're all connected too.

Fletch XXX 08-16-2005 09:09 AM

The airline industry is hurting for money.

Do you think when companies are hurting that they will INCREASE maintenance and part replacement on planes? Quite the opposite, sure the inspections remain but dont look for airline owners to increase spending while they hurting. Me and my partner have talked about this. The airlines accidents will increase as the companies continue to not make the money they once did. Gas prices alone are making them lose lot of money.

So, my guess is, they will use this to get more money from governments etc as they claim their planes and companies are in need of not only repair but basically entire reconstruction.

these events will help fuel sympathy for the airlines instead of holding them RESPONSIBLE for their actions and in turn get them more money to expand.

sad cycle really.

What's quite alarming is it's not caused by any terroristic attacks.
