Which Intel CPU and Motherboard Do You Recommend?
Putting together a new computer - there are so many variations of a P4 CPU and chipsets i dunno what to get. Also recommend a motherboard.
the rest i can decide on easy. and still might just go with a Dell. |
Budget? :upsidedow
CPU: Intel Pentium-D 840 (3.2GHz, Dual Core, 1 MB On-Die Cache Per Core, EM64T (64-Bit)) ~ 600$US MOBO: Asus P5WD2 Premium Intel 955X Retail ~ 265$US 865$ total :pimp |
No specific reconmendation, but if you plan on having this computer for more than a couple of years you might as well make sure your CPU can handle 64 bit processing. Also depends on your budget.

I love my amd x2 4200 dual core it rocks

budget isn't important on the CPU and MB - but i would never buy the latest/most expensive Intel CPU - just isn't worth the money you pay to have the newest and fastest.

All the 600 series have 2 MB L2 cache and are 800 MHz FSB with HT( of course ) 630 is 3.0 GHz and is about $250 640 is 3.2 GHZ and is about $300 650, 660 and 670 are 3.4, 3.6 and 3.8 GHz respectively but the 650 is almost double what a 640 is and that's not just worth an extra .2 GHz in my book. |
