To Rotate ads or not?
I have a single page displaying an AFF ad currently (The ad takes up 1/2 the page). I tried different programs periodically with worse results. Today I added a persistent cookie which logged out the visit# for each hit/per user to see how often I was getting people hitting this page for the 2nd,3rd,etc. times. This resulted in almost 40% of my traffic being repeat traffic. (With that number sure to go up since it's the first day).
So the question is this. Should I keep putting up the AFF ad which has the best sell through rate every time for each user? This would be under the theory that if I keep hammering them with the ad eventually they'll click on it. Or Should I be rotating through worse performing ads on the 2nd, and 3rd visits under the assumption that maybe AFF doesn't do it for them, so now try something else? I was curious what the general theories you all have on this? |
well, i rotate different ads on my sports page and it works well...
