Can you surf the web on a PS2?

I bought one of the new slim design PS2's a month or so ago and havnt really found time to make use of it yet... I see there's an ethernet port on the back so it can connect to the internet for gaming purposes... but is there a way to actually surf web pages? Like a web browser cd etc?

i don't think there is......there might be a mod you can get done though, not quite sure

Well it sure would have been a great feature. It wouldn't be that hard to implement at all... all the necessary hardware is there, all you would need is web browser software. You could use memory cards to store things such as bookmarks and e-mails... it might even increase memory card sales hehe.

Hey any programmers out there wanna partner up and pitch a marketing proposal to Sony? lol...

At one point they already had that in the works. I remember when the PS2 was first coming out them saying they would have a disc that you would pop in for the web browser for limited net access (something similar to WebTV/MSNTV).

I believe you could with the Sega Dreamcast. Didn't that have Windows CE built in?
