Is that the best you can do? No offense, but here y'all come bitching about how you think you won't be able to take it any longer, then go out and fill your tank like sheep, paying whatever they charge, no noise, no nothing.

Are you even aware that most of the gas price is made up of taxes? Not like the crude oil prices aren't skyrocketing, but the fact still remains that most of what you pay is TAXES.

Now, how about you go out and talk to your fellow citizens, form an interest group and start lobbying your governments so they put that fucking tax money to good use, like invest in alternative fuel research? Not like there aren't alternatives, but since the base for using them is close to non-existant (too expensive due to low consumption, too low consumption due to being too expensive), so at some point some action must be taken, in order to break this Mexican stand-off. The market itself will not do so very soon. Remember, the way you act, or don't, will most likely influence what you'll be paying for fuel tomorrow.

I'm not preaching. Just offering an alternative point of view. Did it ever occur to any of you that you can actually DO something about this, instead of sitting on your asses and whining like little bitches?

federal gas tax is like 18.4cpg..
state gas tax varies.. 23.5cpg in Mass.

Its much more fun blaming Bush and Iraq. Let them stick with that.

By the way, did you know that Iraq isn't even one of the Top 5 oil suppliers to the United States? I bet most people don't know that. Our main oil imports are from the America's.

I'm aware of that. Also, the biggest (if I remember this correctly) producer of oil these days is Russia. The fastest growing oil consumers are the Chinese (for obvious reasons). And the US consumes 3-4x as much oil as it produces.

People also forget about all the thing that petroleum goes into. It is difficult to look around your house and name anything that is produced that does not involve petroleum.
