Content or design??

What´s most important?? I know it has been asked before!
alsscan.com - imo. top ten on the web content but a terrible "tour"-design...
And as far as i know he converts as hell!
So it must be content! Am i right??

Nice question...

I think it's both - design + content. As far as nobody has only excellent content one should find solutions... And very often design helps out a lot. :winkwink:

content. Sometimes the best designs do not convert for some reason. It is all in the mind of the consumer. Most of the surfers get scared away by sites that are too perfect. We build site based around the niche that we are trying to sell

content.. by why not have both.. doesn't need to be either/or

Roald 08-15-2005 05:13 AM

content AND design, it all about how you market it to your surfer.

I think it's mistake to use the term design - yes, it's mostly done by designers but you should either call it a presentation or (why not) packaging. Some super fancy packaging might turn consumers off because most of them have a fantasy about amateur girls who are horny as hell.

if you look at perfectgonzo their tours are not that fancy, but their content really makes them standout

have to agree, a big mac can taste great but if they wrap it up in newspapers nobody will buy it.

since when do big macs taste great? :)
ask a pom they love their fish and chips in newspaper :)

But it's kind of a ridiculous argument. you can't really say one or the other because how do you quantify "bad design" or "bad content".. technically bang bros isn't quality..

the reason you choose content over design is that it costs tens of thousands of dollars for content for the site.. if you've got that part wrong you're fucked :)

A good design may bring them in but content is the only thing that will keep those rebills coming in.
