Golf Fans? Anybody Watching PGA?

I love golf. I'm watching the PGA and it's really tense! Just wondering if any of you guys unwind on the course.

thaifan99 08-14-2005 11:47 AM

Its not live here.............. how are the 2 brits doing?

Greg B 08-14-2005 11:50 AM

Fuck it! Just when things were gettin' exciting a lightning storm shows up. This year's play has been plagued with weirdness.

I can't spoil it for you. It is ASTOUNDING the things that have happened during play today. Yesterday I believe Howell got an ace on one of the toughest holes ever. It was outstanding to say the least.

Singh is scary. You'll have to see it to believe one of his fairway shots.

Rawz 08-14-2005 11:57 AM

Did you see Tigers 370 yard drive on the 650 yard par 5 the other day . Madness .
Howell's ace was sweet , one hopper right into the hole didn't even hit the pin just dropped right in .

thaifan99 08-14-2005 11:57 AM

ok thats it..im off to the usatoday scores page lol

Martin 08-14-2005 01:34 PM

Looks like the lefty is going to win.. Still lots of golf to play though..

Yo! That was madness indeed!

These men are playin' like " Grand Golf Auto San Andreas " or something.

Heat, wind, animals, trees falling on mofo's. This tour is freaky!

Howell's Ace just freaked me out. Then today he put the ball right next to the cup on the same hole!

Dudes have had a hard time making par all day! Mickelson is ahead as he knows how to play it against diversity.

See, if you play those courses at the high end country clubs where it's all pleasant and nice, you don't learn how to get your game on. You gotta play at a ffffucked up course where the only thing you can do to keep your game on is drive and hit and chip with utmost precision. Then when you go on a 'nice' course you rock and rule.

Noooo! Don't do it! Wait to watch the play on the tube. The suspense is nail biting and the surprises legendary.

It's really worth the wait.

JuiceMonkey 08-14-2005 01:49 PM

Mickelson will win

Greg B 08-14-2005 01:55 PM

Yo! Davis Love is trying to hit a ball from way out in the parking lot onto the green. He's pickin' pebbles and shit off the ground and the announcers said he should have been wearing protective eye wear because hitting the ball in all that dirt and pebbles could cause sparks and shit.

I can't say how he did as some folks are still waiting to see the game.

Friggin' awesome!

Thomas1007 08-14-2005 02:35 PM

 :error

Mickelson dropped! I went to the freakin' store, came back and the leadership changed! Now even Woods is back in the top 5.

Now I know why the course is so weird it's 'Springfield' :)

Montgomery Burns hired Homer Simpson to tend to the greens and look what happens!

videoxpix 08-14-2005 03:37 PM

I went to round 2 on Friday, just to heckle Colin Montgomery. It was really hot out, and I got to see a tree fall on a cameraman.

You saw that shit??? Man, talk about being at a newsworthy spot.

I saw on the tube that it was 95 degrees and a heat index of 102. Everybody on the course was drenched in sweat and that might be the reason the games were so off.

Them lightning storm calls today added to the suspense. There was so much shit goin' on I was expecting something extra bizarre like Damien from "The Omen" to show up as a caddy or something.

sfera 08-14-2005 07:52 PM

who is currently leading?

Well Thaifan shouldn't look as there'll be spoilers:

Mickelson regained his lead but the fat lady ain't sang yet. Play was cancelled due to a storm watch. the majority of the leaders have 2-4 holes left but they're monster par 5's. More than enough hazard to fuck up royally. Play resumes tomorrow 10am eastern so I gotta be ready by 7am Pacific and I ain't missin' shit.

This is the best PGA in years.

Only thing missing is if aliens attack or some naked woman goes running over the field.

Greg B 08-15-2005 08:30 AM

Oh, the ending to this years PGA tour beats em' all. Of note, take a look at what happens to Mickelson's son on the 18th hole. It's a riot.

Bugbee 08-15-2005 08:33 AM

mickelson wins!

haha i wish that was true. fuckin play shitty public courses all the time and play pretty well. shoot high 70's low 80's. i finally played a professional course, poppy hills the other day in monterey and shot a 89. although i couldn't hit a drive straight if my life depended on it. it was definately a tough course. lots of dog leg rights and lefts and big hills in the fairways. also if you hit in the trees your fucked haha. which is where i was the whole day.

It was like something out of Happy Gilmore. First Tiger hit it in the water, then he cam over & hit his drop from right in front of where we were. As his approach hits the green & slows down, we heard a big crack, then saw the branch come swinging down.

The scary thing is that right where it fell, was like the only shady area at that hole, and most of the people underneath, barely even moved, even as the branch was hanging on just by a thread. It took the cops a good minute or two to get over there & clear people out of harms way.

I was there this morning too, and they removed the entire tree. It was great to see Phil win, as I missed his round on Friday.

Rawz 08-15-2005 10:20 AM

So true Greg about playing some of the dumpy public courses , it builds your game .
Here in NH was a great place to learn golf every course is lined with woods just about .
And i don't mean groves of manicured trees and bushes , i mean woods !
Very little room for error on most courses around here .
Good to see Phil win another major he deserves .

Oh I'm from New England region! No other golfing like it anywhere.

What's ironic is that during play you have birdies and eagles but on a course in the northeast, you have swans, ducks, geese, hawks, starlings, falcons etc.

I remember one day on the course it was almost dusk and a flock of Canadian Geese were on the 9th hole. A freakin' deer ran out of the woods, scared the flock that flew right at us as we were trying to reach the green. A groundskeeper screamed for us to hit the deck and then it was too late. One of them geese that weighed like 40lbs hit this dude who was on another fairway walking out of the rough. That goose knocked his ass into the air in a flip and all I saw was a 5 iron go flying in the air at us. Two geese missed me by inches. We barely made it out without injury.

Many a time a deer or herd or deer or a black bear or foxes would dash across the course.

I shit you not, one day about 10 years ago I got up early one morning to take out the garbage and I heard this 'clomp clomp' sound I walked to the street corner and a fucking moose was there. In NY! I ran back home, called the newspaper and police and no one believed me. Then in a few hours that same moose ended up on the golf course and nobody was allowed to do anything cause they were endangered or some shit. Dudes were PISSED cause the moose kept fucking up course play, scaring other animals out etc.

Trees can be an advantage if you hook or slice and hit a good oak or maple tree cause the ball will bounce back onto the fairway.

Golfing in NE is an adventure to say the least. I really miss it.

I don't know how to play that game and I'm not a fan of it

See? The biggest secret to finding a well off man to marry and women like you don't get it :)

Golf honey. GOLF!

I have yet to meet a woman who once trying it didn't fall in love with Golf. All that fresh air and sunshine and lawyers and doctors and big shots out there playing and along comes you, some hottie chick in short shorts making with the " Oh, I can't play this game...oh help me big strong golfer dude! " and you'll have to fight them dudes off with the golf clubs. :)

Just try it. Go get a girl pal of yours and find the nearest golf course that's upscale and dress up cute and hottie like in white mind you, and hang around asking hunky rich guys if they would help you with your 'swing' so you can hit 'BALLS' good with the 'CLUB' so you can get some BALLS in your HOLE.

Sheesh, it doesn't get easier than that ;)

DTK 08-15-2005 12:49 PM

I'm happy to see lefty win another major, I've always kinda pulled for him. He's really proven that he's learned how to harness his massive skills.

And props also to Eldrick......it takes alot of balls to undertake a (second) total swing change just as he's entering his prime. His results this year have shown that the lull (if you could really call it that) of the past couple seasons was more than justified.

Rawz 08-15-2005 12:53 PM

Oh man geese can destroy a course but never heard of them hitting a golfer like that !
Learned to golf at Country Club of NH in North Sutton up in the mountain valley and one early morning on the second tee a whole pack of wolves came tropping through the fog right in front of the green .
They stopped checked us out , it was about 150 yards away and then ran onto the driving range and just hung out there even with all the tractors and mowers going .
Then as we get to the the six whole a bunch of moose or one one angry moose had trampled most of the green .
Very strange day of golf .
