House prices in certain areas jumped by 5% on the news its coming to London and many hotels report people trying to block book rooms already!

Just that things are going to be tighly packed. I actually hope to get over there for them but it's 7 years off so who knows.

Let me tell you. The olympics have never been here in Mexico where I am, and we get 1500$ for a week for a house.

Thats the bit that scares me. Im gonna hang on until the Bejing games and see what happens.

As far as the area is concerned its actually massive. The Lea (Lee) Valley park is a huge area. I spent most of my youth fishing in the river there. Stratford will be the biggest gainer with a new international termainal.

2.5 hours to Paris - unless you live here you cant imagine how amazing that sounds.

I know of them...are there events in your area? I know I will havea direct trasport link from my station to the games by then even though it will be over the river.

I agree about a re-anouncement day too. For nearly 24hrs this was the happiest city on earth and then we were damn well near the saddest.

Oh and again, unless you live here you don't know what a big accomplishment it was to get Londoners collectivly happy.
