Nikon D70s Digital Slr

is it worth it considering that the others in the price range are 8+ megapixel and the d70s is still at 6.1 ??

Thanks for any input

I just got the D70, and couldn't be happier, but it is my first still camera so what do I know?

If you're shooting pr0n, don't worry about that. Online at 72 dpi who really gives a hoot? D70 is a good entry level camera. The Rebel XT is better though for about the same money.

I love my D70. It's the best I've personally owned so far. Can't say anything for the newer ones coming out, though. Check out dpreview.com.

Rebel XT is good enough for me.

Great camera and very fast and easy to use. I had been using an Fuji S3pro and bought the D70 as a back up. I now use the Nikon more then the Fuji by far.

This was the final site I read that made me go with the Nikon over the canon.

here is why you buy nikon vs anyone else

do you shoot in a harsh environment ( the beach, the desert, high humidity, outdoors etc)

if the answer is yes you want nikon
if you shootin in a clean simple studio you can go with anything you like

I did a shoot in the desert near vegas some years back in august it was brutally hot with about a 10 mph wind all day (red rock cyn if you must know)

we had a canon xL1 a sony vx1000 a nikon N90 and an equivalent Canon 35MM

both the canon cameras were unuseable after the shoot, they got very fine sand particles in them (probably from the wind) that totaly fucked them up.
the sony and the nikons still function to this day

Theres a reason that Nikon has become the choice of photogs in the field and that reason is that they are rugged and built to withstand abuse, the titanium body pro cameras like the F5 are damn near unbreakable.

Anyway long story short the more you abuse your camera with travel and environment the more you justify the higher end.
