Shooting pictures, RAW or JPG?
Hey guys, I was just wondering maybe somebody can get me some input on the file format RAW. It seems to be much larger then the JPG format.

Only time you need raw is if you intend to do high quality published print where you would want more color gamut, exposure options and megapixels. Raw is typically uncompressed. For web content jpeg 10-12 is fine.

I shoot raw and jpg at the same time, you never know when you might need the raw image

I always take pictures in RAW and then convert them to JPEGs. Get WAY more qualitative output by that.

If you are only shooting for the web, high-quality JPGs are fine.
But, I have had times where I wished I had shot a certain image in RAW because I wanted to print it. |
