Hey there GFY'ers, I use to actually post here about a year - 2 years ago ( I forget what I had as the pass, hence new name ) But what my thread is about is the current industry. I have a few questions out there and was wondering if some of you ol' time members can give me a few suggestions and pointers. Currently I'm an art student for design and have been doing design for close to 7 years. Now I started thinking that I should do some freelance design work to pay the student bills. :P My main question is what as webmasters do you hate the most about people you hire to do designs / graphic work for yourself. As well as what would you like to see offered in design work you contract out. What I mean is guarantees and delivery times, policies/ deals. Please throw out any more suggestions I forgot. Thanks for your input.

The only thing is the due date ..Most but not all will say 2 weeks and it turns out to be 5 to 6..don't bullshit ,just tell them you are swamped or have previous deadlines and it will be 5 to 6 weeks

So deadline is a huge factor. Is communication and updates on progress a problem?

what about rewards for referals. What would you guys like to see in that department.

And for deadlines, what about a policy if the deadline is missed by 3 days then you get 20% off. by a week 50% and if it takes longer then you get that item for 75% and then your next one for 25% off

Looks like a sound way to attract new buisness as well as a way to motivate yourself, as long as you stick to it.

Hopefully my plan would be to get referals mostly by mouth. I feel that means that I am doing a great job and providing a great service.

If you guys respond with some good feedback and ideas, I will select 5 people to get a free banner designed by me. All you have to do is voice your opinion. I am going to be setting up my website within 2 weeks. When I am done setting up the webpage I will design the banners. So contest is done in 2 weeks. I will contact you by icq or email. Deadline, and designers who have egos so big that even when you tell them to do something a certain way, they do it their own way because they think it will look nicer
