People who feel they need to teach you things?

Weird - why is it even when i learn something from someone i always look to the teacher and examine them

I find it almost weird that those people who always feel the need that they have to teach you something or impart something on you are usually the ones who really need to embrase what they are saying themselves.

watched my favorite movie again last night - swimming with sharks. Gave me new insight again.

People hate you - grow up - way it goes
Job unsatisfying? grow up - way it goes
not getting treated fairly - grow up - way it goes
Loved ones hide things from you - grow up - way it goes
Wife doesn't meet your needs- grow up - way it goes
feeling sorry for yourself - grow up - way it goes
think the grass is greener on the other side - grow up - way it goes

people cheat
people lie
good guys loose
love does NOT conquer all
life is NOT fair

way it goes
life is not a movie

the only needs you need to concern yourself with are YOURS
the only intersts you need to concern yourself with are YOURS
the only emotions you need to concern yourself with are YOURS

Once you embrace that you're left with one question - what do you really want?

Swimming with the Sharks is one of my all time favorites. There's some great dialog:

---------------------------------

Buddy: If they can't start a meeting without you, well, that's a meeting worth going to, isn't it? And that's the only kind of meeting you should ever concern yourselves with.

----------------------------

Buddy: Avoid women directors. They ovulate. Do you have any idea what that does to an three month shoot?

----------------

Guy: That's a bagel stain.
Dawn: Bagel stain?
Guy: I put too much cream cheese on Buddy's bagel and he threw it at me. But I learned a very valuable lesson... never put too much cream cheese on Buddy's bagel.

----------------------

Buddy: You wanna talk big directors? Think Attenborough, think Spielberg, think Lean.
Guy: Lean's dead.
Buddy: No he's not, don't you ever say that. He's just unavailable.

That is so true. I took a business class once and I asked the teacher what business' do you own and she said well non at the moment but... BS BS BS

I was like how is a lady that cant even run her own business going to teach me about business. I dropped the class two days later when she argued with me that Multi Level marketing is not a business which I totally disagree with.

Tanker 08-12-2005 12:45 PM

almost all major corporations are set up as multi level marketing or the like in one way or another.

Those who teach don't need to be good at what they're teaching. Great sports coach weren't great athletes, same with great teachers....

Murderous 08-12-2005 03:00 PM

When I read that, the only thing I can find myself doing id look at sleazy and think how much he should use his own advice.

Sleazy perhaps you should reread your post first before embarking on us with your problems.

Too fucking funny... no better way to prove your point I must say.

That actually looks like an interesting movie. But I really hate those type of people... but you can't deny the fact that they always get what they want out of life.
Whether they end up happy or not is something else though.

some truth in that - but that's all depending on what the teacher wants from you though.

at the core - what i really want is to be happy and to have someone to love that loves me.

on the outside - there's money, power and time management issues I deal with on the want list.

What you are looking for is basically what a lot of people are looking for.
I just think in order to find the person who can provide you with what you need you should start by giving the same as what you expect.
Life is unfair and we are always looking for more, but remember you need to give a bit to get more.
Your outside list will always be there because the more we have, the more we want.

Weird deal. i think you can learn from almost anyone. I had shitty teachers that taught me a lot because I wanted to learn what they had to teach.

I guess the post on we are all newbs and need to learn everyday got old after a bit??

:winkwink:

The "YOURS" is too strong in that my concerns embrace more then one person. At the most basic, if my employees are productive I am happier so I need to meet their needs to be productive. Our needs are joined. Family is alos like this for most people.

You can love someone if you choose. To expect that at anytime in your life someone will love you, truly love you? And that it lasts! That's a long shot. The way it goes. To be truly happy, you have to internalize it and be happy in your own skin. Just the way it is. Having a pet dog was a good choice for you I think.

tristan_D 08-14-2005 04:58 PM

that's a fatalist way of looking at things. but to some I kinda agree. you meet people who can't walk the talk everyday.

Peaches 08-14-2005 06:02 PM

Peter Jennings was quoted as saying not a day went by in his adult life where he didn't learn something.

JuiceMonkey 08-14-2005 06:04 PM

yep i hate them damn teachers

reed_4 08-14-2005 06:38 PM

i only listen to credible and well experienced people.
