What do you do in this game that so many people are hooked?

RPG? MMO? Levels? Sell items?


What is the basic concept

I too have a question is World of Warcraft different from the Warcraft III Frozen Throne? I play Warcraft 3 but I haven't tried WoW.. i play MMORPG though like Ragnarok and Tantra

I have never played that game. Our Xbox was taken in a burglary, and we just never replaced it.

It's for people who would rather create a fantasy world than live in the real one. Once you've done a few quests and won a few items, most people get bored and move on. It's just more of the same.

I have no idea, all I know is my boyfriend plays counterstrike ALL DAY LONG!!
Well, he goes to work now so he plays maybe 4-5 hrs a day, but for awhile it
was like 10 hrs a day! He talks to people in MIRC via a headset and plays "scrimms" where they are even in teams, and is just addicted, it's crazy...

Well you basically level up and get better gear.... and they you kill the horde.

Its a cool game, but found it too repetitive and the plot pretyt thin. you do quests, get items buy items on WOW auctions, gain more power do higher quests. A lot of time when you die you walk for 3-5 minutes over Real world to get your damn body WTF.

It kills time like you wouldn't believe, its very hard to have a life and to play WOW at the same time. So if your going to get hooked, drop the wife or girlfriend, have some good savings to live off and then jump right in.

At the end of the day, the game is just a endless repetitive questing, you get more powerful item you kill more powerful enemy. Its very weak IMO. But of course has 10,000's hooked on it cause its very interactive and you can quest with lots of others.

The social aspect keeps people hooked on these games endlessly. I know, I was an addict at one time until I realized that when you get up and off the game, you've benefitted nothing from it.

If you're asking opinions on whether or not you should jump in, do yourself a favor and just don't bother. Go buy a NES and play some retro or buy some newer PC title to keep your interest for a few hours, so you won't get sucked in. What you can lose is far greater than anything you'll ever gain from these games.

They said that's an exciting game to play. i want to experience it too.

wierd i just installed the demo to play the free trial . waited on the 4 gig install, then it says i need to use a credit card for the free trial..

These fuckers are worse than porn sites. It repeats over and over your card will not be billed , its for verification purposes only.. then on the last page it says .. " for your convenience your account will be automatically charged after the trial " It woudn't be so bad but on the first page it says your card will never be billed.. Why fuck around with the bullshit "for verification " excuse and just say . " look the game is expensive , if you want to play it , pay for it fuckers , theres no free trial , go watch over a nerds shoulder. "

If you want a free one, try guild wars Smokey. You only pay once and no recurring charges.

I'm addicted to Wow. I play on Shadow Moon. What about the others ?

Its addictive as hell yea

Going a high level instance with 20-40 people together is very thrilling.

It takes alot of time though.

Talking about the money for a month membership, its nothing.

Imo if you havnt tried it, take a chance a start playing. Try and plan some hours every day gaming and then move on with your usual to do stuff.

It's alot of fun, I played on a team for another game Battlefield. Thing with css or battlefield tho it's over in 30 minutes.
When you have a persistent character with goals people get lost.

My bf is putting together a BF2 clan. Now that is a fun game to watch someone play! That and CoD.

Wow some big level players, do you guys get any work done while building those players up? Building players that big must really take months and months of endless playing.

haven't played WoW but played EQ and am hooked on EQ2 now. It's an MMORPG; so if you like RPG's chances are you'll like WoW.

SMokey you are absolutly correct.
SOE (Everquest) relentlessly hit our card for over 4 months even after unsubscribing. We ended up having to cancel the fricken card after 2 chargebacks and 2 refunds.

Unsubscribe process is difficult and almost can not even be done unless you get there outsourced operators, and even after doing so the fiasco regarding the 4 months after unsubscribing still occured.

If adult did what these people do Visa would have dropped adult by now.
In the RPG board communities there are massive threads of nightmare stories about recurring RPG in WOW, EQ, SWG...

Uh yea my son tried to tell me that and I told him too bad for him, his Mom knows what is REALLY UP and I know how that all works LOL ;)

i'm on firetree with a 60 mage. was rank 11 but stopped playing for a bit. ranking in the pvp system is crazy, some play 10+ hours a day. noway anyone who works or has somewhat of a life can compete.

but its a fun game, thats why people play it. more time played = more powerful so it hooks people into playing a ton.

if you played endlessly you'd hit the cap within a month. its quick to level, especially compared to other games. if you play casually about 4-6 months. it's one mmorpg that doesn't require a huge time commitment, that is until you hit the cap and want better items.

it's fun. it's a time waster. it's satisfying just killing other players online.

People who disrespect games saying they are a waste are complete morons. Its a form of entertainment and no different then watching tv, or reading a book.

I used to think these games were hardcore gay, then i saw someone playing it, bought it the next day and can't stop. my brother was the same, he saw me playing it and would make fun of me, got me to install trial, the fucker was so addicted he walked for an hour to the store to buy the game cuz he couldn't wait for me to give him a lift.

I used to play FPS all the time, i even tried and lked BF2 but in all seriousness i can't stop playing this game long enough.
