Help: Can someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this server problem I'm having.

My server admin quit on me a few months ago. I've been administering all the duties since then. My sites are working fine but I'm keep getting this email every 2 days. It states to add an a entry under dns function. I do that but still get the email. I don't know what it means or what I should do to get this situation in order. Can someone explain what this email means and how can I fix the problem?:

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
The hostname (bighead.clubhouse-productions.com) resolves to . It
should resolve to 216.127.90.76. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as
well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if
you
believe everything else is correct.

You may be able to
automaticly correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for
your
hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager

If you need WHM and cPanel to admin a box, you probably shouldn't be doing it. That said, this particular topic is thouroughly covered at cPanel's help forum. Do yourself a favor and do some reading.

Hit me on ICQ if you are still having problem.. I can fix that up for you in your WHM if you want.

My icq is over to the left there.

I still upload through my old hostname successfully. I change the hostname.. and that's why I'm having this problem... I've registered a couple new sites and also registered them through WHM... But my newr sites not online... How can this be fixed?

Ooh changing your hostname can be tricky with WHM.

My offer to fix your stuff up still stands if you want it. It's a little too complex to explain when it would take maybe 5 mins tops to do. :D

Don't worry you can do this and you def do not need a admin for it.

Log into your web host manager and click "hostname" under "Networking Setup" just click save if it's already correct. If it's not correct then put the right one there and save.

Then under you "dns settings" menu click:

Add an A Entry for your Hostname

Then restart bind under services.

You may have to go to the file /etc/resolv.conf through ssh with root access.

Then pico resolv.conf

make sure the hostname is there and the it has the correct i.p. next to it.

Then save "control x"

and restart bind: /scripts/restartsrv bind

Always update cpanel after major any server changes like this, even if you just did it.

:winkwink: good luck!

And cpanel is great even if your a advanced admin, saves time, keeps things organized. that's why we are authorized partners with them. :)
