I'm going through it right now. I just had enough dude. I just went cold turkey sorta... First day I only smoked 10 cigs or so... Then next day cold turkey. So I sorta brought myself down from 2 packs a day..

Good luck!

Pick up your pack of cigs and lighter right now and walk them to another floor, or other room of the house and leave them there. When you make that automatic reach for a smoke, you'll have to get up and go find them. Makes you think and you'll be surprised how many times you'll say "ah fuck it, I can go 5 more minutes"

sniperwolf 08-10-2005 07:38 PM

I treated the nicotine addiction like kicking heroin. went to a lighter cig, buying them by the cartoon so I didn't fuck with myself, until my 'dose' got lower. went to medium's then lights, then ultra lights. took about a year. maybe 3-4 months on each lower dose, like methadone :thumbsup

got up one day and was a non-smoker . . . far easier to kick dope than cigs and that's a fact. just remember that the urge to smoke goes away whether you some or not . . . and the other important thing to know is this: everybody gets a real bad head trip at 6 months off the fuckin things . . you make it through that and yer golden

regards, bmb

just dont buy em anymore, if you dont have em you cant smoke em..

d00t 08-10-2005 08:45 PM

cut off your fingers

wedouglas 08-10-2005 08:49 PM

start biting your nails. that is 10 times harder to quit IMO. I never smoked or had to quit, but i did bite my nails really bad. imagine never running out of cigarettes. always having one ready to go that you can smoke anywhere you want at anytime and it doesnt cause cancer or anything...

It was hard, but i knocked that bad habit. Just resist. It's all about self control.

wallst 08-10-2005 08:50 PM

start jogging 6 miles a day....works for me.

Get locked up. A 2 to 5 stretch in a state lockup that does not allow smoking usually works. Plus you get a lot of time to work out and make new business contacts.

So you didn't quit, you just stopped buying them. A smoker's favorite thing to hear, "Hey man, can I bum a cigarette"

ardy6931 08-11-2005 01:21 AM

just quick and get your nicotine elsewhere. I tried quitting smoking by dipping when I had a craving once a day. Anyway I start smoking again after a month and now I occasionally do dip. So that worked out well

je_rome 08-11-2005 01:46 AM

it takes a lot of discipline.. anyway, candy in your pocket will work.. whenever you are craving for some, eat candy.

and, and don't do it drastically. if you smoke a pack a day, lessen it first to 3/4 then half, and so on.. unitl you completely get rid of it..

High Quality 08-11-2005 01:48 AM

Listen to Neal Boortz for a while. and then call in.

He'll berrate you for being a smoker till you cry like a little bitch.

That'll motivate you ;)

I smoked for 12 years, quit smoking nearly 4 years ago at age 28. Too many old mother fuckers in the family sucking oxygen. Talking about the few that are still alive.

:2 cents:

same here, you gotta associate smoking with lack of breathe. something that will make you feel shit, bad... not good!

Kemist 08-11-2005 05:00 AM

I just went cold turkey from day one. I brought a packet of sugar free mints and whenever I needed a cig I would pop a mint in my mouth. After 3 weeks the cravings got less and less (During those 3 weeks tho, I was quite a grumpy bastard!) Its been almost a year now and I have not relapsed once, I still get the odd craving but nothing to write home about.

Hope this helps

Good Luck :thumbsup :thumbsup

naugthygUrL 08-11-2005 05:07 AM

reed_4 08-11-2005 05:07 AM

Exercise and have a balance diet. you will force your self to quit it.

CheneyRumsfeld 08-11-2005 05:24 AM

Peter Jennings quit.
Where is the problem?

Gio_JoinRightNow 08-11-2005 05:28 AM

Minimize your smoking. 1 pack in the first day, half on the second.....and so on. It works. That's what my friend do.

Thats how I did it.

Now I have a cigarette every couple weeks or so. Usually when I'm at a bar or something.

wildgirl 08-11-2005 09:05 AM

I haven't smoked eversince

BigCashCrew 08-11-2005 09:08 AM

start taking hard drugs. lmao

axelcat 08-11-2005 09:17 AM

cold turkey, just try it out, when you get a nicotine fit just chew some gum and occupy your mind with something else. Before you know it the day passes by without any smokes, take my word this is how I quit and I used to be a heavy smoker.
