IE Browser hacked, can someone help restore it?

Hey do you know how to fix a browser hack? Somehow my homepage has been set to some stupid website, www.duolaimi.net (fucking assholes) and I can reset it.

A script has disabled the option to reset the homepage.

I go into tools, but the homepage reset area is all greyed out.

I've gone to webpages that have a button that says, "Make us your homepage" but that doesn't work either.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

thanks amp, but that didn't seem to fix it.

However, I did find an option that restores all settings. It reset IE back to MSN as the homepage, but the browser still doesn't let me adjust the homepage settings.

Go To Settings -----> Control Panel ----> Add Remove Programs ----> Highlight IE ---> Click on REPAIR Should work. Make sure you have your WIndows OS Install Disk nearby should it need some components.

I had that shit happen to me, I really did have to format c: :( But if you want to try fixing it yourself, search for info on JS.Exception.Exploit...

Cool Thanks. Half of this worked. I was able to change my homepage settings, but after that software checked for any bad viruses it found nothing.

So there must be something wrong with the regedit files.

Does anyone know which rededit file to tweak to allow me to be able to change the homepage from the "tools" menu?

start menu> Run> "regedit"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

the key is "start page"

Here Redshoe try this
1. Start regedit (Start > Run > Regedit.exe)
2. Go to the following section in your register: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
3. Find the following string there and delete it: C:\windows\regedit.exe /s C:\windows\system32\radB42B9.tmp
radB42B9.tmp can be any file that shouldn't be there, it may also be located at any other directory. This section in your register HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run serves as Autostart group, so you may remove everything unnecessary from there. You may also try to find any other references in your register to the file you found in the section CurrentVersion\Run (eg. radB42B9.tmp) and delete them.
4. Change your default home page (Tools> Internet Options> Home page) to the one you desire and ENJOY!
5. If you don't want this to happen again, change your security options in Internet Explorer to promt whether to run or download any ActiveX controls and always answer NO if you are unsure.

Good luck buddy

There's some registry settings they changed to not allow you to change your IE settings.

http://www.onecomputerguy.com/ie_tips.htm#restrictions

Try that page. Go look in the registry under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Restrictions section and see if there are any of the NoBrowserOptions, etc things in there.

RedShoe, I have a little program for that, email me and I send it to you.
