Apology to Mediaguy over the video.

First and foremost, I want to apologize to Mediaguy for posting the video. We have discussed the matter and now that both sides of the story have been told, I think it is pretty easy to see how it was deemed acceptable.

I never touched him; I only filmed it and posted it. No different than JFK posting pictures. Fact of the matter is that lots of people held my camera. I will say this however; those people that did put ketchup on him did so because they deemed it acceptable because of two reasons:

1) Prior post where he stated it was ok and it was his way of Marketing.

You all have to understand something, if you go to shows, you see some crazy marketing schemes. This is not an unbelievable scenario. Companies do a lot of crazy things for exposure. We don?t all agree on the methods, but I think we can agree on the strategic diversity.

2) He did not seem that intoxicated at times. Believe it or not, he repeatedly asked to write his site name on his head. People were trying to do that for him, it just isn?t all in what I put in the film.

Next to JFK, I likely have more show pictures than anyone in the industry. I have always been sensitive about the footage and pictures that I have made public. I apologize for being irresponsible with this specific footage; I would never want to harm anyone?s business. I know my pictures are posted everywhere, I have come to live with how shows are. I have been told there are people that try to get me in compromising pictures so people can take pictures from afar.

In Montreal, after I helped him out, he thanked the ones who wrote on him and called it publicity. This, more than anything, is the central issue in where I got confused. After speaking with him, he is a very nice guy. I think that he will move forward and everyone will forget. In both Montreal and Florida, he never once harmed anyone and he was very much energetic about his program.

Like I said, if I had been asked not to post the video, I would not have posted it. Although the video is now considered ?controversial,? the pictures from Montreal and Florida are not much different. My video came under fire because it appeared more set up than it was. A lot of those same people in the video tried to help him numerous times.

I never had a personal problem with the guy. It was a communication issue, plain and simple. At the end of the day, I will help him out if he so needs it. Maybe it will turn out to be a good thing. I don?t get involved in drama, this was rather new for me. I will say this, it is very time consuming!

I wish him all the best. Please keep this a happy thread and remember that he is a nice guy and was really trying to do his job. Maybe he should come in and tell us about his program. We all know the url, but lets hear it from him.

Cory.

I'll get in early here.

StuartD 08-10-2005 11:40 AM

It's pretty stupid to write on someone and put ketchup on them when they're drunk....

then again, it's VERY stupid to get to the point where people can do that stuff to you.

Don't want it done? Don't want it photographed? Don't want it video taped?
There's a simple solution.

killerkay 08-10-2005 11:41 AM

wheres the video

davethetruth 08-10-2005 11:41 AM

Some people just need to let it all go every once in a while.

I'm sure he'll have more positive experiences at shows in the future. :)

JUSTB 08-10-2005 11:42 AM

Cory, you did nothing wrong.

MediaGuy did nothing wrong.

His marketing scheme worked and we all had an afternoon of entertainment. Though it would have been nice if he had thanked me for the scalp massage......

Like I said, it was confusion on both ends. It happens.

I still love ya Cory ;)

fatal attraction 08-10-2005 11:43 AM

Good job Cory! :thumbsup

magicmike 08-10-2005 11:44 AM

Oh please... its in public with tonnes of people with cameras. He's lucky thats all that happened, if he did that out in a club somewhere he'd get tossed head first thru a door, and prb. mugged outside.

Makingcoin 08-10-2005 11:44 AM

So he got really drunk and people put ketchup on his face?

JUSTB 08-10-2005 11:44 AM

BTW the condiment people had some healthy buzzes going too....

WiredGuy 08-10-2005 11:46 AM

Great jesture, let's all get passed this and move on and do business from here on in.

Doctor Dre 08-10-2005 11:47 AM

This is the reason why I don't get drunk @ conventions except the last night and only a bit tipsy ;P

Toolz 08-10-2005 11:50 AM

Why does this guy still have a job? If someone pulled a back to back show passout working for us they'd be out the door, fuck your "marketing" spin you're trying to put on this, I would never do biz with a company who allows their sales reps to run around like this, Double D works over there and is a respectable guy but until they get rid of the clowns why would I trust them with any of my biz?

Gabriel 08-10-2005 11:50 AM

Mediaguy was pretty nice about everything. Maybe they need to make other changes. One of the guys there sent me a message that didn't sit well with me. Such is life.

He at least understood why I thought it was ok to post the video.

You're a nice guy. I'd post it twice if someone wrote bitching at me about it.

Oh I imagine he was nice, I carried two employees out of a Windsor strip club off the floor, needless to say that was the last convention they went to and the last months of their employment, this was all NOT in a public setting but shit I had to deal with, to me it reflects VERY poorly on a company if they continue to let that kind of behavior persist.

ronaldo 08-10-2005 11:59 AM

Nice gesture Cory.

It was unwise on his part.

But so goes another day in this industry.

Maybe because when he is not pissed drunk and rolling around in ketchup, relish, and mustard, he does a great job! Did you ever think of that?

Fire a guy because he had a few to many? People get worked up all year long to go have a good time, and there is always people who drink to much, or can't handle their liquor (Which I think is the problem) Does not mean they should lose employment over it.

Cory, as far I am concerned you have done Nothing wrong!!! You saw an opportunity to film something in public and took it, Good for you. It is NOT your fault that Media Guy cant hold his liquour. To all you bleeding hearts out there , get off Cory's back about this, had I been in the vicinity at the time I would have pics of it as well. :2 cents:

Phoenix 08-10-2005 12:06 PM

BuggyG 08-10-2005 12:13 PM

couldn't get the vids to work :(

Theo 08-10-2005 12:14 PM

i would film him as well

Matt M 08-10-2005 12:16 PM

Cory,

You did nothing wrong here he did. Dont feel bad about it. Like has been said many times before "if you dont want to be filmed doing stupid things, then dont do them" simple.. I dont think his business will be hurt. he will just have to work harder to get it. Greed drives this industry, and if someone thinks they can make a buck more with him then what they have now, they will do it. Those that say they wont do business with him or his company, are just being 2 faced. Money talks, and if he can get them more, they will over look all the other "stupid" things.

Phoenix 08-10-2005 12:22 PM

Brad, you are least consistent, I think you said the same thing after the Montreal pics :1orglaugh

But think of the Mad Views this and all the other threads are getting ........Free publicity............ and there is no such thing as Bad publicity :winkwink:

Toolz 08-10-2005 01:07 PM

Mad views? What about lost biz? They had an opportunity for a large opening with several large companies that posted in this thread that have no desire to do biz with them now.

I don't care if he's an MIT wiz and can program in his sleep. This convention is not about seeing how drunk you can get and make an ass of yourself, last I checked it was about producing soming business, this fools actions are costing his company money today, not making it.

I agree Toolz. You and I seem to be the only senseable people on the board these days.

Phoenix 08-10-2005 01:12 PM

not bad..one on on with pornstars at 4 bucks a minute..is that the gist of it?

i never even heard of them before all this

Yes. I would fire him in an instant. That's not how business is done and not how I would want my company represented.

Maybe he should hire some Lightspeed Girls to watch his drunk ass next time? That'd be marketing.
