What size monitor & what screen res do you use?
 
I'm curious what others are using here.... On my laptop I have 14inch and 1024 i think....

17" and 1024x768 @ 85Hz.

I could go for 1280x1024 regarding the fonts size though, but anything less than 85Hz looks like a x-mas tree blinking and hurts my eyes.

Same here. I think it varies widely between video cards. My sister's resolution is set at 1024 and her icons look fairly close to the size of mine. At 800x600 on hers everything is HUGE.

4 monitors total, 2 19" monitors with a resoloution of 1152x870 and 2 17" monitors with a resoloution of 1024x768.
