You wouldn't beleive some of the piddly amounts of money people take other people to court over.

Sometimes it's not the amount, it's the principle of the matter.

I think he just wants his $500. The "slander" (libel?) is resultant of not getting paid.

Whatever, you both feel you're right, and neither seem willing to compromise at this point. All offers and counter-offers have been rejected... only thing left is to either walk away and suck it up OR.... settle it in court.
