yes

make thier already swelled heads even bigger in a recruiting effort

yuvalus 08-06-2005 02:34 PM

What is the difference between the army and the marines?

mikeyddddd 08-06-2005 03:01 PM

The Marines were once part of the Navy just as the Air Force was part of the Army. All the services have a separate chain of command up through the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs to the President. There is an academy for all the services except for the Marines.

I'm from one of those families where the men are expected to serve in the military before going to college.

I did six years in the Navy because the food was good and they trained me on computers. :1orglaugh

My macho brother on the other hand joined the Army for two years and then instead of becoming a reserve, he chose to do a four year stint in the Marines.

Overall, the Marines are much more hardcore gung ho, unless you include the Special Forces types, such as the Navy Seals, etc.

Funny ad...I e-mailed it to my brother.

It's an ad targeting ex-Marines to sign up for Army Reserve services. They made a big stink about it on Leno a while back and it was later explained.

I thought it was a misprint as well and figured someone's ass was grass.

To the best of my knowledge, the Marines are still a part of the US Navy.

Marines are the best, at getting killed. When ever you need a body count, call the USMC.

tungsten 08-07-2005 06:48 PM

funny ad indeed

reed_4 08-07-2005 07:23 PM

Marines are good in the movies too.

I did my military service in the amphibious infantry. (not the elite part, just a regular grunt - It was a heavy weapons platoon attached to the company)

All those fucking mortar rounds I had to carry around .. and the reward was a sore back and an ugly beret. :ak47:

Hollywood Horwitz 08-08-2005 04:24 PM

seeric 08-08-2005 04:27 PM

my father was a marine in vietnam. R.I.P.

never met him. :(

mad respect to all who have stepped up for the cause and the ones that didn't come back.

actually that in cludes me too i guess, (5 years USAF, SSGT AFSC 81152)

respect.

oooohrah

CJTraffic 08-08-2005 04:28 PM

Amen!

A bunch of the guys I was in the 'corps with jumped ship after 4 or 8 years to go over to the Army. It's much easier to get promoted, they've got a much bigger budget and once a Marine, always a Marine. All the soldiers know you're a Marine at heart and you get a lot of respect from the pogues.

Semper Fi!
