Platinumpimp 08-06-2005 01:48 AM

Buy a jar of salt :winkwink:

There is a 'good' type of cholesterol, HDL, and it's better if it's a little higher. The target for LDL, the 'bad' kind, is low though.

tristan_D 08-07-2005 05:12 PM

its just about moderation I think.

riddler 08-07-2005 05:18 PM

147

Well, if it's any measure to gauge by, years ago, I had a total of 310; now, with minor watchfulness over what I eat, along with 25-35 miles a week of jogging/brisk-walking, and a Lipitor pill every night, my total is down to 147 and my good (i.e., HDL) is at 55. So, my doc was happy with those figures if that's any relative point to consider in your situation. Of course, my age might be another factor--I'm 65.

hmm i am not exactly sure... your stats sound great for your situation though! congrats :)

me i eat tons of meat, eggs and bad cholesterol as well as good choleserol stuff (avacado, nuts, olive oil fish) but its always super low the 139 is a bit better than usual really.

UniversalPassLorence 08-07-2005 06:15 PM

Drink Bacon Juice constantly :)

reed_4 08-07-2005 06:37 PM

Eat a lot of meat to get your high cholesterol.

tungsten 08-07-2005 06:49 PM

ya gotta balance it in the middle

sniperwolf 08-07-2005 08:09 PM

everyone needs a balance blood chemistry.. it's like sugar/glucose
too low or too high will affect your acid base balance (the concentration of blood electrolytes) which in trun affect the whole system...it's a domino effect

digifan 08-07-2005 08:59 PM

True.. they say that high cholesterol level is the first sign of type II diabetes.

Digibucks 08-07-2005 11:35 PM

Doctors have long warned about the health hazards of high cholesterol but a growing body of evidence indicates that very low cholesterol can be dangerous too, according to a researcher at Duke University Medical Center.

In a study of 121 healthy young women, Duke psychologist Edward Suarez found that those with low cholesterol levels -- below 160 mg/dl -- were more likely to score high on measures of depression and anxiety than women with normal or high cholesterol levels. Normal cholesterol levels are considered to fall within the range of 180 mg/dl to 200 mg/dl.

PixeLs 08-07-2005 11:57 PM

Always take them on moderation. I think that's the secret there.

2 bowls of oatmeal each day (old fashioned rolled oats, not instant) will usually lower ch about 30% within 2 weeks.

plus it will fill you up and help weight loss if desired.

Gio_JoinRightNow 08-11-2005 01:23 PM
