When does the AVN lockdown occur? Anyone know what time?
 

If the Westin is off-limits during the show, at what point are they locking it down?

Actually I am concerned as a time issue for us (including you two) for tomorrow. Since we all get in within minutes of 5:00pm, and there will be a 30-40 minute span of time from the airport to the hotel to the busses, I don't want to have to fight through some kind of security at the hotel to register for a pass before I can dump our luggage in the room.

i get there on friday at 10am.

I called them today. Was told "no lockdown, just procede to the registration desk when you arrive."

Because they didn't mail badges to everyone, me included.

I wish I was coming just to see what kind of cluster fuck this evolves into.

Great question.

Registration opens at 8am tomorrow morning (Thursday). At that point the hotel will be closed to those without badges. Not that I'd expect security to aggressively enforce that while folks head down for breakfast tomorrow. :winkwink:

You'll be dropped off at registration to pick up a badge. A porter will take your luggage right away and give you a tag for it. (AVN's covered all tips for porters so that's not for you to worry about.) How long it takes really depends on how many people show up at the same time you do. I really can't tell you.

Aly I know you are trying here and I am not trying to be anal but I am asking specifically for a good reason...

Will we register for our room or register for the show first? What is the first step as far as entry to any event we should expect? If we are going to be dropped off at the front door and a porter will take our bags, is the next step to register for a show badge or register for our hotel room?

The reason i am trying to get a specific answer is if the porter is going to check my bag then I can make it to my scheduled events of the evening (off property events) and I can always come back and do the registration thing later. If however I have to check into my room so the porter can deal with my bags, etc. then I am wondering what the order is for check-in. Is it hotel then show badge or show badge then hotel?

It's show badge, then hotel. What time do you get in? If it's after 7pm you can just get a wristband to enter the hotel and then get your badge in the morning. I'm sure the porter will just hold your bags for you.

The plane lands at 4:55pm, we should be at the hotel within 20-30 minutes after that. I don't have a problem going to either first, I just don't want to stand in the middle of the lobby looking lost wondering what we should do first since we are kind of on a time-sensitive schedule tomorrow night. It will be well before 7 when we get to the hotel, I am just trying to nail down logistical issues on my mind.

It just occurred to me that AVN just made a shitload of money off a bunch of webmasters who will be subjected to a barrage of advertisements , be fed shitty lunches, all while being subjected to 100 degree and 100% humidity.

No, afraid not. Too many projects, and illness in the company makes it not logical.
