Anyone using SecureCRT as SSH client?

I just started using this SSH client and it looks good, but how the hell do I make the END and HOME keys work, and the colors (like when you do a 'ls' it display different colors for different file types/permissions)?

Thanks.

Well yes, it didn't work out as expected. :)

For the people suggesting PuTTY, thanks. I've already used it for years, don't like it anymore. It doesn't have sFTP.

I was a happy user of SSH Secure Shell, I'm just trying this other one 'cause it has tabs to support multiple logins.

Bump to the first page, still wondering. :upsidedow

When you're looking through help, below the help for Keymap Editor you will see Keymaps and functions. Specifically Emulation-Specific Keymappings. It's listed there.

First save the session so the host you're connecting to is on your connection menu. Then edit the options for that site and set the terminal type to VT100. All keys should work normally and if the shell you're using is set for colors, they will show too.

Or to set it for everything, so you never have to mess with it again. Go to options, open global options. Then on the left hit "Default session" and then hit the button on the right that says "Edit default settings".

The terminal type is under "emulation" on that menu. Set it to VT100 and you're set.

putty rules.

SecureCRT is the way to go. You really don't get any better then it.

As for the Home and End keys. Try playing with the terminal emulation settings. Although, I've never had a problem with them except on FreeBSD boxes.

NinjaSteve 08-03-2005 10:42 AM

secureCRT is my favorite.

4Pics 08-03-2005 10:47 AM

Thanks, that worked for the colors thing. :thumbsup

I'm messing with the terminal now, let me see if I can get it to work.

Ok, found it. After playing a few minutes with it on trial and error, I've found that:

VT_REMOVE = DEL
VT_FIND = HOME
VT_SELECT = END

Cool, it's working on the terminal now. :thumbsup

BUT... I use pico as text editor and it doesn't recognize the DEL key, gives me a "Unknown Command". It's okay though, I can live with that. :upsidedow

Thanks again everyone!
