french pressed is a form of making it....hot boiling water....and fresh grounds....then you let it sit for a minute.....and then the pitcher has a fine screen that pushes the grounds to the bottom and leaves the coffee free to pour with no grounds..... lemme find a pic,,,,,

Deej 08-03-2005 06:00 AM

http://fantes.com/images/6554french_press.jpg

thats a french press.....its the best way to have coffee....so much more flavor and boldness....especially with fresh ground beans

aleck 08-03-2005 06:02 AM

ahhhhh ok got that, thats a perculator as we call it, ok ok you do know that THE way to increase your blood pressure in 1 month right? It leaves a lotta coffee in the water, the way Indonesian ppl make coffee...

But its fast and nice true...

Deej 08-03-2005 06:05 AM

no its not a perculator ;) ...... it does sorta look like it.....but this is more primitive.....you boil the water and pour it in....that little knob on top....ulls up....and theres a screen in there....you put in the grounds...then hot water....let fusion occur :P .....and then you push the knob down...screening the grounds to the bottom........look closer :D if your into coffee.....its something to invest in......from 9 to 30 dollars....US

Who drinks what with what in it?

I get 'fresh roasted beans' there's palace a few blocks away that has a roaster. sometimes the beans are still warm from the roaster. the only way to go.

make sure and use a 'burr' grinder. the chopper grinders will scorch the beans while a burr grinder crushes them up. I only grind enough for 1 or 2 cups at a time

then I use a french press. sometimes with a cinnamon stick or a little sliced fruit added. the some splenda and a splash or heavy cream in the cup :thumbsup

Deej 08-03-2005 06:10 AM

yea :) espresso machine im assuming :P very nice shit, had one in a cafe back in the day.....but alas....i back to banging rocks and sticks for fire.....so i boil my water and do it manually.....

very bold flavor still.....

ill have my espresso machine again :winkwink: but ill always have my trusty french press

Did you ever look at a roaster? We barely have them here in Europe but Ive seen them on US sites, plenty, and green beans. That must be pure heaven... roasting then making your own espresso :)

Deej 08-03-2005 06:12 AM

cinnamon is good for the acid i hear.....dunno for sure...had it....i like it and i dont....its weird....aquired taste...

i have a chopper grinder.....does crushing make a diffy?

BuggyG 08-03-2005 06:55 AM

k dont have the rosso here just checked... I drink like 2-3 espresso 2-3 capp a day so lil bit less.. just wondering if its average then why buy it? its not cheap and for the money you can buy lotsa better stuff, the housebrand of a wholesaler here is not even $7 per kilo, the really good stuff panama beans is like $7 per half a pound... lavazza is like $10 a kilo here

Digibucks 08-03-2005 07:15 AM

black coffee is enough!

Rinaldo 08-03-2005 07:16 AM

just a habit. yep, there are more brands, lots of 'em are cheaper, but lavazza is pretty much everywhere. just a habit.

LittleSassy 08-03-2005 08:28 AM

with cream and sugar:)

smack 08-03-2005 08:30 AM

i usually don't go for fresh beans, i am lazy like that. what i do like is the StarBucks flavor of 'Sumatra'. it's a really dark, rich coffee. it's real good for an after dinner thing, but a little to strong for the morning most times.

i'm a redbull drinker in the morning anyways, less abrasive than coffee when i first get up.

swedguy 08-03-2005 08:38 AM

I love my nextdoor café. The have great Portugese beans called Bicafé.
I work from there couple of times a week. Nothing beats an Espresso with their Eclair.... good stuff :)

Morning: Cappuccino
Rest of the day: Espresso
At home: Press coffee

Validus 08-03-2005 08:39 AM

Way too much coffee... lots of sugar... lots of milk... and its all good.

loverboy 08-03-2005 11:53 AM
