copyright before or after publication?

If someone uses illigal content (without authorization to use it) on the 1st of januari but he gets a license on the 4th of januari. Is he guilty for these 3 days?

How bout this: What if someone uses illigal content (no license agreement) and the owner of the content is to affraid to write the webmaster and ask to remove the pictures. (so he's not giving permission for the content either, but he just 'allows' it for the time being?

txs!

It should be illegal to use "wrong" when you should use "incorrectly."

If you have purchased content, the content provider usually tells you that the license should be recieved, signed & dated within 7 days.. so, as long as you have a license pending, you have the right to use that content. However, if you do not have the license signed & delivered to the content provider within the time stated on the license or agreement, you need to remove the pics..
