seo question
For a few sites I run, I am ranking 1st on yahoo and google for the search term with brackets. However, without the brackets I am not even on the first few pages let alone results. This is an ongoing problem. Is there something I am doing wrong when optimizing my sites or something I can be doing to get better ranks without the brackets?

Brackets or quotes? Big fucking difference. :)

Not every search engine will index the same way, in fact, they shouldn't or else there would be no differences between Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc...

He probably means quotes.

There is a BIG difference between, "free porn" and free porn
for starters there is a LOT more competition for the latter... |
Sorry I meant quotes:
Example: Sex Forums (google) sexforums.com Toronto Poker (google and yahoo) toronto-poker.com |
To use your example of sex forums - I assume that sexforums.com is the domain your asking about:
without the quotes there are over 5 mill results in Google - with the quotes there is only 100 thousand or so - not as much competition HOWEVER: for with the quotes youre on the first page which is a good start and without the quotes youre at 30th on the third page for the sex forums phrase. With the amount of people you have linking to you that is good for Google - building more quality links and continuing to add quality content every day will get you to where you want to be in no time Suggestion - you might look at your raw server logs and see what other terms you are coming up for in the SE's and see if you can develop some more content to place higher for those as well - start stemming out :) |
Thanks Linkster, I guess I will just increase links. The other keyword advise is good, I will start optimizing for them.
