you WILL have a blast....See you in Florida!!!

The only suggestion I'd make is don't be a wallflower. Go up and introduce yourself to others.
Too many times I hear how shitty a show was because everyone hung out with their friends and weren't open to meeting new people. That's the biggest crock I've ever heard. I've introduced myself to a ton of people and not ONCE have I been given the brushoff. This industry is full of people who, if nothing else, are extremely sociable in person. Not always socially CORRECT, but social nonetheless. |

nothing to fear were all nice people, ;)

You'll have a blast the first show you go to. One thing I'd suggest is that you set up a game plan for it tho.
Are you there to meet people and just hang out or are you there to network and find new sponsor programs and traffic deals? The show floor is great to meet up with people for lunch and pick up some nice trinkets from the booths - but 80% of all the "real" business gets done over lunch/dinner and smaller social gatherings. Set up a schedule - decide what parties you are going to attend and if there are people you'd like to meet up with in person - be sure to email them now and exchange cell phone numbers. With email and ICQ we get alot done - but there is no substitute for a few eye to eye meet ups from the trade show. |

I am meeting with some sponsors I have worked with for a long time but also am excited about meeting some new people and hearing ideas. |
This will be my first show and I'm so excited!
|
Vanderweb,
I would love to meet you! Hit me up on ICQ and I will give you my cell #. |
Good tips..
Vegas in Jan was my first show and the only thing I regret was being as shy as I was....there were people I had been friendly with on boards for 6 months that I went up and introduced myself to, but I wish I would have been more forward with people I didn't recognize, too. |

A schedule is good, but don't be anal about it if other things come up. I intended to hit all the seminars last year, and didn't end up at a single one. But it was still a good show for me because I met so many people, and I learned more talking with some of them than I would have at the seminars.
|
def don't be shy...everyone is very friendly, even if you just walk up and introdue yourself.

I didn't know whether to run or hug back..... and for the next 12 hours I was trying to figure out who this "moron" was. rotfl IT WAS YOU!!!!!!!!!! :helpme I will be getting there for my second trip tomorrow and I better damn well get another one of these hugs from you. :thumbsup But THIS time, I will know who that moron was. lmao |

Never would I just up and hug a woman who didn't know who I was. After Cyndalie kicked me in the nads (sadly not a form of foreplay), I learned my lesson. :winkwink: |
Dont worry in real they are real nice and lovely people ;)

rotflmfao Well, it's not exactly, but it sure was the way it seemed to me....... I didn't know who the hell you were, I kept racing thru my head for nicks that posted by that name that was on your tag thingie...... rotfl With that being my first show, I sure didn't know what to expect and I was being hugged more than I have in my 22 years of marriage. LMAO |

I'm a first-timer to Internext but not to other (sometimes mainstream) shows and these are all good tips, esp. the "80% of all real business ..." part. How true. What I think is needed is a calendar that shows all the events, happenings, tournaments etc. in one neat package. I have tried to keep a list of everything but it's a lesson in futility lol Hope to see everyone there and put some faces to names for the so many I have never met before. :pimp |

vanderweb, what I suggest is that you have your business cards everywhere you go. Make extra sure that anyone you meet gets one and make sure to ask for one from everyone. At the time it'll seem like alot of cards to hold onto but once you get back, you'll see that there's opportunities everywhere. My first show was in Quebec last year and I gave those cards out like there was some Ferrari being given if I replaced my pile with others' cards :)) With that goal in mind, I made great contacts and lots of allies & friends.

great tips by everyone thank u! I am glad i posted this thread!

You'll have a great time if you pace yourself and don't go overboard.
