you get 10 big named sponsors on board that all fork over 10k

youve got 100k to play with.

you can lease an exclusive resort, beach front for 4 days/3 nights with over 150 rooms for around 30-50k.

drop another 15-20k into lobsters and booze.

drop another 20-30k to provide your webmasters with airfare coupons.

so on the top end youve spent 100k, on the low end youve spent 65.

if its 65 and youve got 35 left, rent a yacht for the weekend and have it parked and waiting for who ever/when ever/ what ever.
or pay wyclef or ziggy marley to do an acustic beach front jam 1 night out of the week.

ok. so you didnt make a dime off this convention, but think of the sponsors that would stand in line to be part of that show the following year.

and ofcourse the impact on the webmasters. send xxxbucks x amount of sales and you get your ticket.

Jamaican lobster is pretty crappy anyways, and the last time I was in Negrill a couple peeps got sick off 'em.

for the amount of money sponsors are paying, there webmasters (the people they are trying to impress) could get lobster (or steak.. happy?) as dinner 3 nights out of the week.

I think $10-15k on food and drink is low end. And are you sure about your resort buy-out? That seems pretty low, too. Maybe in off season.

And honestly I don't think you need to make it free. "If you build it, they will come." Give people a reason to go and they will. The Cancun show seems to be a pretty good success, people love it, I did last year and will probably go again next year.

alot of resorts there will deal with you and something like that as they dont get that kind of buy out. have to think like them. they are sitting on 100 unbooked rooms at 200 a night, or rent them all for a discount

10-15k on booze n food is a low number, so lets say 11 sponsors go onboard, youve got an extra 10k to play with, so youve now got 25k for food n booze.

why not free? i mean for all the hard work that webmasters put forth into programs, and programs are spending this money on advertising anyways, why not give it back to the people who have helped them earn it over the years?

or we could charge 300 bucks a head, and listen to distain after distained thread on how we are blood sucking vampires out to milk the last penny out of webmasters pocket to fill our own greed lust.

And $100k gets you nowhere. Trust me, doing a show, even a small show there are all sorts of expenses you are not considering.

id like to think if ur going to do that make it somewhere remote - a small remote island with all those stilt houses - make it a free version of island gathering and im there ;)

DoKK did it for years and years with far less $$ and the only cost to attendees was getting there and hotel, food/drinks. Well, well worth it, and lots of fun.

Doubt if you'de find 10 sponsors to cough up that $10k each. I know DoKK had to hustle all year to find 3-4 sponsors to come up with $$ to break even for the show

Thats what Cancun was last year and I'm assuming this year. Was $250-300. With all the food and drink my friend and I went through, it ended up being fairly reasonable. Though some people complain about all inclusive resorts... oh well, can't please everyone. Fuck the haters.

It's not a bad idea, but I would think that it will get a bit boaring with having the same exact people there time and again. It is more interesting to meet some of the people that can not send x number of sign ups to a program, but have other things going on that I might be able to make cash off of.
