Looking to get a new mini-dv to replace my Sony TRV-950, post some decent quality camcorders (miniDV or miniDV HD) ones. Content producers, would love your input also. :thumbsup

Absolutly NOT! DVD camcorders are the worst possible camera you can buy for content production. They are for 63 year old grandpa's who want point and shoot without having to hook up and "fancy" cables or "super technological" gadgets.

If you shoot outdoors or need a bit of zoom go Canon GL2 - $1500-$2000... If you shoot low light or shakey, (i.e. no tripod) go Sony VX2100 - My personal favorite. Make sure to add a wide angle lense for which ever you choose and extended batteries.

Project Naked-

How did you handle 2257? Did you edit all the good action out of your content? How does 2257 affect your site?

NaughtyAlysha 07-31-2005 02:05 PM

Adam uses the Sony VX-2000... we haven't upgraded to the 2100 yet. Ask Dirty D from HowIGotRich.com. He just bought the VX-2100 a month or so ago, and he shoots a lot.

Lykos 07-31-2005 04:23 PM

I still don't think to change my VX2000,great camera

LittleMack 07-31-2005 04:37 PM

Thanks for the input gang!!

Still editing as we speak but not pulling out the good stuff :) We have always used release forms for the contest we host. The Spring Break stuff is a lot more complicated...we did have to snip a few things. The only issue we were concerned about was using digital pics and video clip copies of the id's vs. a scanned copy but we got that cleared up. :thumbsup

I have the vx2000 but I wish I had bought a dvx100a a great camera, that simulates film so well its scary.

pornguy 07-31-2005 05:03 PM

I have heard that they suck as well. I read that you would be better off using a high8 than a mini

I wonder if it will sell. The guy has no feedback rating, and just signed up with eBay.

LittleMack 07-31-2005 06:27 PM

No feedback at all on this guy..and that is very cheap.

LittleMack 07-31-2005 06:39 PM

should be, but I would be leery on it, looks like in great shape, which is a plus.

Sony VX2100 is a great camera, especially for one person crew kinda shoots and for filming spontaeous footage, as it has awesome low light capability. And it has a really nice flip out screen, great for general use and for p.o.v. shoots, as the cam is so lightweight . It is limited in some respects, the stock mic isn't really great, and most inexpensive add-on mics are mono only, and no XLR inputs if you want to use a boom mic for more sophistiated audio recording.

I also used a Canon XL-1 for many years, and the new XL-2 looks even more awesome with the same interchangable lense capability and other features like . It is for people wanting to shoot widescreen and other film-like features like the simultaneous 4-channel audio recording capability.

Of course if you want to go HD, that's another story and you can get the Sony FX-1 or more professional ZR-1, both 1080i cameras or wait for the next generation.

LittleMack 07-31-2005 06:48 PM

Going to get HD for next purchase, going to wait abit for that though.
