.net V .com

Does it really make that much difference?

If so why?

Have never understood this, seems to me it's just that people prefer to have .com domains. Is there any *real* reason they are better?

.com domains are faster and they allow unlimited email aliases :2 cents:

.com is the TLD most embraced by corporate America so that's where the most value, branding, and identity has been established.

There is usually a 10 to 1 and higher difference in valuation between a .com and its like word in the .net version.

KRL, for your information, it's against fabulous' rules to generate traffic to a parked domain the way you do it (cheaphostingsites.com). Please quit.

this is a no brainer. you develop a .net you are giving away traffic to the .com as well.

As far as I can tell .com's will always be king

In fact putting a parked domain in your sig is one of the lamest attempts to generate an extra $.70 per day I've ever seen.

.net is/was intended for ISP's/networks and .com for commercial sites.

Thats how both extensions were promoted and the reason why .com is preferred by today standards.

SE's have a preference for .com so traffic wise you are losing as well.

On te tech level theres really no difference.. you could might as well use
.co.uk..

Thanks for the replies guys. It may have been a no brainer but I wasn't sure of why .com was better. Thanks

Depends on what you are doing with it...

TGP... pretty much .com if you want them to remember it.
SEO... Doesn't matter... .co.in , .pl , .tv , they all make money.
