Good Home Theater Surround Speakers????

I'm looking to upgrade my home theater system, and am looking for information on some great home theaters speakers. Luckily the adult industry seems to hav tons of audiophiles and former audio-industry workers in it, like myself, and I bet I can get some good advice from ya'll...

Right now I've got a pretty solid receiver with dolby 5.1 ... with a rating of 200 watts/channel rms all the way around and, of course, a sub output so I'm just looking for speaker systems.

One set of 5.1 speaker systems I'm looking at is:
http://www.harmankardon.com/specific...%2014&sType=C#

In case the bbs software chomps the link, go to www.harmonkardon.com and look for the HKTS 14 speaker system.

I've heard Harman Kardon make a solid piece of equipment, but my experience is in car audio ... mbquart, rockford fosgate, etc. are the brands I know. And as much as I wish I could.. I really can't justify a $40,000 McIntosh system right now... my neighbors just wouldn't put up with their cabinet doors falling off.

I'm pretty sure I'm not interested in Bose systems ... they sound very muddy to me and I haven't ever been that inpressed with the sound quality.

Unfortunatley right now I'm stuck with a very bose-ey system ... with lots of highs and mid-range and plenty of lows, but no mid-bass or lower end mid-range.

Can anyone offer some links of high end equipment that I'll be pretty satisfied with? Again, I'm only looking for speaker systems right now.

Satellite speakers are cool and all ... but they lack the mid-bass (and I expect I'll find the same problem with that hk system I was looking at) ... does anyone know any speaker systems with 5 to 7 inch drivers rather than a couple of 3 inch drivers?

thanks! :thumbsup

Good thread. I'm interested too, looking to spend around $3k for the speakers.

ehh.. sony is what I've got now ... I will admit that I'm pretty satisfied with their amplifier ... but these speakers are so-so at best compared to the mbquarts from my car.

i've got a sony system in my car as well.....they just seem to make long lasting products....they don't sound as good as the super high end shit, but i can't afford 1k per speaker

if i did, i'd probably go with bose.....get the cool looking high price stands & all :pimp

Take a look at Monitor Audio, I just outfitted my house with them and they sound great :)

You want hand made British speakers if you can afford them.

I suggest Wharfdale. My Wharfdale towers were about $1000 per pair and they sound awesome.

Tim, if you want to go all out and spend the cash, you HAVE to get a set of Martin Logan speakers. They made me very weak in the knees the first time I heard them.

I have a set of Aerius I's for my front channel and a Logos center channel, unfortunately I do not have ML speakers for the rear. Placement is a real pain, but I have to agree with you, they sound fantastic once you find that sweet spot.

Ok, I'm going to keep this simple.

Do you want quality or junk? Or do you want to spend money on over hyped stuff comparable to what I am about to reccomend?

Listen, it's this simple.

PARADIGM

Go to their site, check out the produts and recommended systems.

Look for the System 9 and system 7 series.

Like what you see? Ok good. Scour Ebay for V2 versions of these speakers and buy them at any cost.

If you don't want used then get what pradigm offers now. the V3 series is still better than most of what is out there now.
