Dialer surprise!
 

A friend called me and was wondering why she got a $100 bill for international calls. I immediately guessed his husband had surfed for porn and since he doesnt know English (except words Sex, Free, CLick, ok) or the Net he had downloaded a dialer.

No big deal here but it made me think that is it usual that people from poor countries are tricked to make a connection and when they get a bill they realize they had lost an income of one month (for example $150 in many countries)

I havent promoted dialers but I was wondering if this is something we should feel bad about...

Someone in the States makes a few bucks while the guy in Eastern Europe for example loses his 1-month income just because he was tricked into pressing OK.

I was also wondering if dialers will go out of business when DSL etc connections become so popular.

They should make a dialer for DSL connections...

If someone seriously enjoys making money by tricking stupid people into clicking something then that one is a sad case

well... youre right but i prefer the stupid guy traffic that come from searchengines for example because they buy memberships :)

I dont know. She's in another town but I sure will check out how that dialer works when I visit them next time,

Of course I dont. And the guy isn't from Eastern Europe either.
I just told this story because it made me think if MANY PEOPLE actually lose a one month income or so. In Eastern Europe for example.

First off. He was a fucking idiot for not being suspicious why his modem was disconnected and then started to redial a new number.

Second. For 3rd world countries most dialers terminate the calls to a cellular route called UK Mobile which is (obviously) located in the United Kingdom. These surfers are only charged about 30 cents a minute thus they aren't charged nearly as much as U.S. surfers.

No he's not an idiot he's an average man who doesnt know English language or how computers or Internet works. I dont consider everyone an idiot who doesnt know how to avoid that kind of a problem.

But thanks for the good news. makes me feel better that people in the 3rd world countires dont get charged that much.

Agreed, and most of the cheaters are NOT in the states..

this guy should not even be on the net if he cant read, and Like Candid said, if his modem dissconnects then reconnects to a porn site, and your friend still stayed connected and most likely stroaking his monkey, then he deserves to pay.....

Theres no sympathy or no excuse for ignorance...

I have to admit, there's ONE dialer company I know of that autodownloads, autoruns, and auotdials without even telling the surfer.
Plus there's no easy way to disconnect.
THAT type of shit needs to be lanced from the face of the Earth.

And no.. It's not any of the big guys (obviously).
