MYSQL Question

Let's say you are running off server www2.domainname.com and you had a server setup for just php usage named www40.domainname.com ...

Thereused to be a web-based page... You all know it.. PHP MY ADMIN

located at www40.domainname.com/phpmyadmin

However that page isn't up there any more.. It has been so long since I used these servers I thought it may be possible that the php server was taken down however I pulled up one of my domains known to use php and saw where it was kicking to for the database and it was kicking over to www40.domainname.com with user1:pass1 as the user/pass combo - Everything is working fine with this system and it is using the php database on www40.domainname.com

Here is my problem.. Using that user/pass I can't log on through ftp, sftp, ssh, ssh2, etc ... to www40.domainname.com

I also can't find the web based php admin page.

I need to add a new table to the database in order to run a new program I am trying to install... But using the user1:pass1 combination it says it can't connect to the database (even with the domain on the same server as the other domain that is running php properly, including the same IP).

Anyone have any ideas what I could do here? The sysadmin etc is out right now... And i don't feel like twiddling my thumbs all day when I could be working ...

Mysql password and ftp password are usually not the same.

You need the password from sysadmin

Maybe i dont understand your exact problem

phpmyadmin is normally located http://mysql.myname.com

Well it is a server dedicated to just mysql named www40.domainname.com ..

so sql.www40.domainname.com obviously isn't going to work :) and I never assigned a domain to that server or I suppose that would work... so it was always www40.domainname.com/phpmyadmin

It was up as of 9 months ago or so but now I get nothing when I go there so I am assuming they removed the web based access to it and re-assigned the www40server to someone else while leaving my mysql database on it as it wasn't taking much of a hit at the time anyways...

Figured that on the FTP thing... I have an old root user/pass for that server which isn't working any more either... Guess I will have to wait until someone else gets in :(

Have you tried
http://mysql.myname.com

when myname is your hosting company name

rml1608 07-30-2005 02:52 PM

Not worth trying... There are about 400 servers all labeled as www1.hostingcompanyname.com - www400.hostingcompanyname.com

Tried for the hell of it thought... "The page cannot be displayed"
